Abstract:
A method of printing a document from a mobile device coupling the mobile device to a print device. The method may also include launching a tap-to-print application software on the mobile device in response to the coupling, identifying a document to be printed via the tap-to-print application, and transmitting the document to be printed to the print device by the tap-to-print application. The tap-to-print application does not modify an operating system of the mobile device.
Abstract:
A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus for delivering a document obtained on a remote network that is disconnected from a protected network are disclosed. For example, the method receives the document at the remote network that is disconnected from the protected network, stores the document on the mobile endpoint device, detects a presence of the protected network, delivers the document to a repository on the protected network and deletes the document from the mobile endpoint device.
Abstract:
A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus for incorporating additional content in a document at a time of processing are disclosed. For example, the method initiates a request to process a document, receives an option to include one or more additional content to the document, selects at least one additional content to add to the printed document from the endpoint device at the time of processing, defines at least one access control of the at least one additional content and sends the request to process the document, wherein the at least one additional content is incorporated into the document that is processed and the at least one additional content has the at least one access control.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for merging and including an additional electronic document in a scan job. The scan job can be initiated and controlled by an application module running on a mobile communications device and the scan job can be stored in a buffer associated with a MFD scanner. A scan option to merge the scan job with the additional electronic document can be selected via the mobile communications device. The additional electronic document can be decomposed into pages by an interpreter and stored in the buffer. The scan job and the decomposed electronic document stored in the buffer can be delivered to a marshaling service running on a network. The additional electronic document can be added to the scan job based on an order of merging in order to generate a combined electronic document by an electronic document builder configured with the marshaling service.
Abstract:
Methods and systems detect a near field communication tap using a force detector of a portable computerized device, automatically sense current environmental conditions in response to the near field communication tap (using sensors of the portable computerized device) and automatically calculate a current location-based environmental signature based on the current environmental conditions sensed by the sensors, using a processor of the portable computerized device. Also, such methods and systems automatically match the current location-based environmental signature to a matching previously stored location-based environmental signature, using the processor and a communications device of the portable computing device. Such methods then automatically obtain a machine identification code associated with the matching previously stored location-based environmental signature from the non-transitory computer readable storage medium, using the processor and the communications device, and automatically process a workflow using the machine identification code and the processor.
Abstract:
Methods and systems read a machine identification code from a machine using a portable computerized device. Such methods and systems automatically sense current environmental conditions of the location and automatically calculate a current location-based environmental signature based on the current environmental conditions sensed by the sensors. Also, such methods and systems automatically compare the current location-based environmental signature with a previously stored location-based environmental signature to verify whether the machine identification code is in the correct location based on a similarity measure being above a predetermined threshold, using the processor. Such methods also display a machine identification validity message on a graphic user interface of the portable computerized device based on the process of verifying the machine identification code determining that the machine identification code is in the correct location.
Abstract:
A method and system for attaching a scan to an email reply utilizing a mobile communications device and any standard email client. A scan-to-email attachment module can be configured in association with the mobile communications device. A contact address can be added to a list of email contacts available via the mobile communications device. The contact address can be added by the user to a reply-to email as an additional address utilizing the mobile communications device so that a scan document can be sent as an attachment to an email address listed in the reply-to email. A server monitoring the contact address can be polled by the scan-to-email attachment module and a scan request initiated with respect to a scanner. An email client on the mobile communications device sends the scan document as an attachment to an email address listed in the reply-to email composed by the user. A fresh email can also be composed and the contact address can be added so that the email containing the scan document can be sent to the recipients.
Abstract:
A method and system for establishing secure communication between a MFD (Multi-Function Device) and a mobile communications device. A virtual private network (VPN) connection can be established between the mobile communications device and the MFD via a rendezvous server utilizing a random displayed code on a user interface of the MFD. An application with respect to the mobile communications device can be started by the user to connect to the MFD and the displayed code can be read by the mobile communications device utilizing an image capturing unit associated with the mobile communications device. The connection key presented by the mobile application can be validated by the rendezvous server. The rendezvous server can be polled for an incoming traffic and the traffic can be forwarded to a service hosted by the MFD utilizing an application running on the MFD.
Abstract:
Methods and devices detect a near field communication (NFC) from a near field wireless communication device of an external computerized device, using an apparatus near field wireless communication device. Based on detecting the NFC, the methods/devices generate random identification and security codes, transmit the identification code and the security code from the apparatus near field wireless communication device to the device near field wireless communication device, and place the previously inactive apparatus wide-range wireless communication device in an active state. In response, the method receives the security code from a wide-range wireless communication device of the external computerized device using the apparatus wide-range wireless communication device. Then the method establishes a network communication session only between the external computerized device and the apparatus based on receiving the security code.
