摘要: Neurostimulation to mitigate lung wetness is delivered to a patient based on a sensed parameter indicative of lung wetness. The neurostimulation is configured to at least one of increase parasympathetic activity or decrease sympathetic activity within the patient. In some examples, a patient response to the neurostimulation therapy may be detected to modify the neurostimulation therapy. The patient response may include, for example, changes in the contractility of a heart of the patient, changes in the heart rate, heart rate variability or blood pressure of the patient, changes in a bladder size of the patient, changes in bladder functional activity of the patient, changes in urine flow, changes in lung function, changes in lung composition, or changes in the nerve activity of the patient.

摘要: A device and method of detecting the severity of myocardial ischemia and heart attack risk is provided. The method includes obtaining an electrogram signal, determining T-wave measurements based on the electrogram signal, and determining ST segment measurements based on the electrogram signal. The method also includes identifying T-wave alternans based on the T-wave measurements and identifying ST segment changes based on the ST segment measurements. The method further includes correlating the T-wave alternans with the ST segment changes in order to detect a severity of ischemia.

摘要: According to the present invention at least a pair of neurological stimulation electrodes are disposed in, on, about, adjacent and/or within excitable neural tissue of a subject. Cardiac activity of a patient is detected using one or more electrodes adapted for delivery of a neurological stimulation therapy (NST). Following detection of certain types of cardiac activity one or more of the plurality of stimulation electrodes deliver or withhold NST, if desired in synchrony with the cardiac activity or in response to the detected cardiac activity. The NST delivered includes without limitation subcutaneous stimulation, peripheral, TENS and/or vagal nerve stimulation therapy or the like.

摘要: A method and apparatus for delivering corrective therapy through hormone regulation is provided. Inhibition of sympathetic fibers by spinal cord stimulation is used to regulate the levels of hormones such as catecholamines, renin, and calcitonin gene-related peptide. The invention utilizes a closed or open loop feedback system in which physiological parameters such as the concentrations of hormones and sympathetic indicators such as heart rate and urine production are monitored and used to determine the appropriate level of neurostimulation. The site of electrical stimulation includes, but is not limited to, the spinal cord at levels T7-L2 and the associated neural fibers within a region of the T7-L2 dermatomes

摘要: A method and apparatus to provide therapy to a patient for protecting cardiac tissue from insult is disclosed. The method comprises delivering electrical stimulation to one or more predetermined portions of the nervous system in a patient's body; and monitoring one or more physiologic indices of the body to determine whether the delivered therapy is effective. That is, a closed-loop feedback controller is used to apply electrical stimulation to preselected regions of the patient's body, and then the physiologic response of the patient is monitored to determine the efficacy of the stimulation.

摘要: A system and method are provided for assessing T-wave alternans (TWA) using cardiac EGM signals received from implanted electrodes. A T-wave signal parameter is measured from signals received by an automatic gain control sense amplifier. A TWA measurement is computed from a beat-by-beat comparison of T-wave parameter measurements or using frequency spectrum techniques. The TWA measurement magnitude and measurement conditions are used in detecting a clinically important TWA. TWA assessment further includes discriminating concordant and discordant TWA in a multi-vector TWA assessment, and determining the association of a TWA measurement with QRS alternans, mechanical alternans, and other physiological events. A prediction of a pathological cardiac event is made in response to a TWA assessment. A response to a cardiac event prediction is provided.
