Abstract:
The present invention relates to stationary cloth media filtration systems and devices, as well as processes and devices, including improved cloth media filter backwashing using a rotating backwash arm assembly.
Abstract:
A laminated modular water filter includes a plurality of superposed support units disposed between top and bottom covers. Each adjacent pair of the top cover, the support units, and the bottom cover define a filter-receiving space for receiving a filter unit therein. Each of the support units is comprised of annular inner and outer supporting members that confine a stirring member therebetween. Each of the stirring members has an inner ring, an outer ring, and a plurality of ribs interconnecting the inner and outer rings.
Abstract:
A fluid grid system for use with filter systems and other fluid handling devices. Preferably, the fluid grid system is designed such that components thereof may be readily connected to each other without the use of clips or other fasteners. Further, the fluid grid system preferably allows components to be installed and held in place or removed merely by applying a sufficient force to a portion of the component.
Abstract:
A filter underdrain apparatus and a method for manufacturing such apparatus. The apparatus includes a cover member, a water orifice member and a bottom member, each being individual pieces. The cover is placed over the water orifice member and connected thereto by welding. The bottom member is likewise connected to the cover and water orifice members by welding. A water passageway and an air passageway are defined in the inside of the assembled members. Water egress from the water passageway is provided by holes in the water orifice member and the cover. Air egress from the air passageway is provided by holes in the cover.
Abstract:
A media bed support grid for use with a vessel having an inner surface. The media bed support grid comprises a plurality of filter panels, each filter panel having a plurality of parallel and spaced-apart filter wires, the plurality of filter wires forming a filtering surface. The media bed support grid also comprises a plurality of channels underlying and positioned substantially perpendicular to the filter wires. The media bed support grid further comprises a plurality of manifolds, each manifold being coupled to and in fluid communication with the channels.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved distributor including a conduit having an inlet end to receive incoming slurry and an outlet end to feed slurry onto a treatment apparatus such as a filter. A plurality of spaced apart diverter rows are arranged within the conduit between the inlet and outlet ends including a first diverter row comprising one adjustable diverter that is selectively adjustable to divide incoming slurry into either two slurry streams or into three slurry streams. A last diverter row is provided adjacent the outlet end, and the last row includes a plurality of spaced apart non-adjustable diverters make a last division of the slurry before it is discharged onto the filter. At least one intermediate diverter row is provided between the first and last diverter rows, and the intermediate diverter row may include either spaced apart adjustable diverters that can be selectively adjusted to subdivide slurry streams into either two or three additional slurry streams, spaced apart non-adjustable diverters that subdivide slurry streams into two additional slurry streams, or a combination of both adjustable and non-adjustable spaced apart diverters. The each intermediate diverter row contains at least one more spaced apart diverter than the a previous diverter row and one less spaced apart diverter than a following diverter row.
Abstract:
A whirlpool bath has a combination suction fixture and disposable filter. The suction fixture is a plastic semi-cylindrical housing attachable to the tub. A removable faceplate is reinforced and resistant to body and hair entrapment. The disposable filter is fibrous having a porous core, wherein the porous core has a series of holes and/or slots graduating in size from small at the outlet end to large at the remote end. The filter, sloped floor of the housing and drain slots provide for low water retention during shutdown. A safety/sanitation port on the outlet port creates cavitation if the whirlpool bath is operated without the disposable filter. The preferred embodiment removable faceplate is attached to the housing via a magnet and a peripheral ledge providing a pop off design. The preferred embodiment filter also has a pop off design.
Abstract:
A distributor/collector system includes a distributor comprising an upper header having upper laterals carrying fluid away from the upper header and a collector comprising a lower header having lower laterals carrying fluid toward the lower header. Flow enters the distributor on one side of the vessel and exits the collector on an approximately opposite side of the vessel. The distance traveled by each fluid particle through the system is substantially the same.
Abstract:
Filtration device comprising an inlet for the supply of the liquid to be filtered and means for holding a filter crossing the flow path beyond the inlet. The inlet opens into an annular intermediate passage which narrows down in the flow direction to an annular slit. The inlet opens into the annular passage in a tangential direction. The device comprises a support screen for support of a removable filter, and a dome leaving a small gap between its outline and the support screen when it is positioned in the support screen.
Abstract:
A method for removing contaminants from an organic-based feed stream which includes the use of a layer of reticulated ceramic material to filter the organic-based feed stream and to provide liquid distribution upstream of the catalyst bed.
