摘要: A multi-stage printer has an arithmetic section for calculating the next paper moving amount on the basis of a line position of a selected type stage of a plurality of type stages; printing is performed by a desired number of digits in a first line position by using first types selected from the groups of types; then, the distance from the printed first line position to a printed state-confirmable position away from the area opposed to the groups of types is calculated by the arithmetic section and the printing paper is moved by the paper moving means by an amount based on the result of the calculation thereby allowing the printed first line position to be moved up to the confirmable position; then, before printing in a second line position by using second types selected from the groups of types, the distance from the printed first line position now occupying the confirmable position to the second selected types is subtracted from a predetermined printing inter-line pitch in the arithmetic section and the printing paper is moved by the paper moving means by an amount based on the result of the calculation, thereafter printing is performed in the second line position by using the second types.

摘要: A serial printing apparatus is disclosed which has rotatable and axially slide-movable type wheels and means for supplying differently colored inks to the respective type wheels. The improvement in the printing apparatus made by the present invention comprises the provision of axially slide-movable hammers disposed opposed to the respective type wheels. Printing in different colors is performed by the hammers.

摘要: Described, is a printing mechanism allowing full exploitation of the potential of dot matrix printing. Dot forming elements are mounted on a carrier for transport past an array of hammers located in front of media to be marked upon. The dots or carrier are impacted by the hammers to form dots on the medium. By appropriate control of motion of the printing medium and timing of the hammer impacts, a dot may be formed anywhere on the surface of the medium. This allows unlimited character font set generation as well as special character printing for enlarged font, miniaturized font, fast rough draft copy printing, the printing of ascenders and descenders for characters and for condensed or compacted printing. In addition, the mechanism permits an all points available graphics generation system and full control for variable vertical spacing of printed elements and of variable horizontal spacing of the printed elements. Variable print element shapes, grey tone graphics printing and multi-color additive or subtractive color processes are also facilitated.

摘要: A plurality of print hammers are mounted on a horizontally movable carriage and adapted to scan a plurality of column positions of an impact printer. Each print hammer is provided with an energizible electrical coil which moves horizontally with the print hammers in the scan direction. The energizible electric coils on the print hammers cooperate with a fixed magnetic field provided by a pair of fixed bar magnets which extend beyond the distance scanned by the energizible coils on the print hammers.

摘要: A wire printer comprising a wire guide block provided with a plurality of print wires and a wire drive block providing individual electromagnet devices for independently driving the print wires. The wire drive block is installed on a base frame so as to be stationary thereon and the wire quide block is movable over the base frame in a direction transverse to the direction of advance of a paper to be printed on. The print wires are slidably supported and maintained straight by guide members which are mounted on a carriage of the wire guide block. The print wires are not deformed at all, even during printing.

摘要: A multiplicity of print hammers are supported on one or two planar arrays of leaf springs, the array being parallel to a belt carrying a row of typefaces defining respective character positions, so as to be jointly shiftable parallel to that row between different positions of alignment of each hammer with any one of a set of two or three character positions assigned to it. The hammers are actuated by respective electromagnets whose armatures are normally spaced from the hammers and have faces spanning two or three character positions so as to engage the associated hammers in any of their positions of alignment.

摘要: A line printer which comprises a frame, a hammer bank secured to the frame, the hammer bank including a plurality of hammers, a ribbon that is movable past the hammers, a recirculating character belt which comprises a plurality of characters, and a band gate having an adjustable pulley arrangement for removably carrying the character belt. The band gate is pivotally mounted to the frame in such a manner that the distance between the hammers and the characters is adjustable to accommodate paper of varying thicknesses. A phasing circuit controls the firing of the hammers. An adjustable paper feed mechanism controls the positioning of continuous paper form as it passes through the print line, and a stepping motor controls the paper feed mechanism to provie 6 or 8 print lines per inch in such a manner as to reduce the time required to advance the paper to the next print line. Each hammer face spans three print positions, and the character pitch is greater than the width of a hammer face such that each hammer is able to strike a single selected character in three successive print positions.

摘要: Type characters arranged in columns on a rotatably driven print drum of a high speed printer are selectively impacted by print hammers which are pivotally supported for striking the print drum. Each column of type characters defines a print position along a print line, and the number of print hammers is only a fraction of the number of print positions along the print line. To enable type characters to be printed at each print position, the print hammers are disposed for movement in slots provided in a guide member which is movable parallel to the print line to flex the print hammers sideways to impact type characters of adjacent columns on the print drum.

摘要: A print hammer actuating assembly for a high speed printer, wherein a one-piece magnetic block is secured to a first core structure to provide a second core unit which includes a multiplicity of integral pole pieces. The block is of elongated construction and it has a series of spaced apart projections extending transversely to its longitudinal axis to provide discrete pole pieces. A series of elongated bores extend transversely to the longitudinal axis of the block in alignment with each of the projections. A hammer actuator assembly is disposed in each bore. A bucking coil contiguously surrounds each of the projections to provide a series of selectively energizable magnetic fields for operating each hammer actuator. With such an arrangement, the single pole piece block may be readily manufactured and assembled, at reduced cost. In addition, the working distance between tips of hammers and the paper may be readily adjusted by means of a single operation, thus affording a considerable saving in field maintenance time.
