Both half-periphery printing capability and full-periphery printing capability can be implemented by providing regulating blocks capable of rotation as print pressure bearing members, the device is characterized in that selection of print characters is restricted by engagement of drive projections of an endless printing band and an elastic section of a movable stopper member and that, in the case where no drive projection engages with the elastic section, selection of print character is made possible and a regulating block receives the print pressure on the print character.

    摘要: A printing mechanism is described comprising a plurality of type carriers (12, 34) which on their outer peripheral face carry in one region printing types and in another region indicator types (44). The printing types can be brought into a printing position by turning the type carriers (12, 34). A setting means (32, 20, 24) including an actuating knob (32) can be brought into a drive connection with each of the type carriers (12, 34) for rotation thereof. Stop means (100, 102, 104, 106, 110) limit the turning travel of the type carriers (12, 34). Detent elements (96) hold the actuating knob against rotation relative to the type carrier (12, 34) which is in drive connection with the setting means (32, 20, 24), with a detent moment governed by the spring hardness of the detent elements. The spring hardness and thus the detent moment are determined so that when a moment is applied greater than the detent moment, rotation is permitted between the actuation knob and the type carrier, and when a moment is applied, there is no relative rotation between the actuation knob and the type carrier, and the type carrier is turned.

    摘要: A type band for a printer comprises a track of marks to be scanned (timing marks) at least one of which is obliquely positioned relative to its adjoining marks. The centers of all marks are equidistantly spaced. When the horizontally moving type band is vertically displaced, the time spacing of the scanning signal of the obliquely positioned timing mark is changed over the scanning signal of its adjacent timing mark. The magnitude of the vertical displacement of the type band is derived from the change in this time spacing. The displacement data thus obtained permit compensating for the vertical displacement of the type band (using, for instance, a stepper motor).

A first area of a ROM stores the basic type arrangement data for a plurality of basic character sets. A second area of the ROM stores replacement data which is replaced for specific symbols in the basic character sets, and the start addresses of the type arrangement data for each set. An identifier identifies which character set and which replacement data are carried on the type carrier. A microprocessor stores a program for retrieving the respective type arrangement data and inserting the replacement data therein. The data is sent to a RAM, where it is compared to input data to print a specific print symbol.

The wiper strip has a wiper portion extending from the point of attachment which terminates in a scraper edge. A retention device mounted in proximity with the drive pulley comprises means connectable to the common end to hold said wear strip under tension and said wiper strip in spring loaded condition with the scraper edge in contact with the drive surface of the drive pulley for cleaning wear strip residue and other deposits from the pulleys and the type band.
