摘要： The present disclosure describes and teaches a wheel cover that is used to cover the disc portion of a vehicle wheel. The wheel cover has at least an inner plate and an outer shield, both of which are attached to the wheel disc by screwing bolts and bolt heads, ensuring secure attachment of the wheel cover. The inner plate and the outer shield are preferred to have gaps and openings that are overlapping with the wheel spoke gaps. Preferably, the wheel cover also includes a set of audio speakers that are positioned between the inner plate and the outer shield, or beneath the inner plate. In either case, the audio speakers are disposed within the gaps and openings of the wheel cover, allowing more satisfying sound effects. The outer shield may have a decorative side that has patterns, logos, or pictures printed or engraved thereon.

The system includes first and second bearing surfaces on the wheel cover which are simultaneously engageable by a portion of the vehicle. At least one of the first bearing surface and the second bearing surface is located on a resiliently deflectable portion of the wheel cover. At least one of the first bearing surface and the second bearing surface is also being sloped with respect to an axis along which the wheel cover is applied to the wheel to secure the wheel cover on the wheel assembly, so as to enable slidable engagement between the sloped bearing surface and the portion of the vehicle engaged by the sloped bearing surface. At least one retention surface separate from the sloped surface is engageable with a portion of the vehicle to retain the wheel cover on the wheel assembly.

摘要： The degree of freedom in design is increased while maintaining strength by enabling a decorative member to be disposed without thinning a wheel main body.A wheel is made up of a wheel main body 1 which is made up of a rim portion 10 and a disc portion 11 and which has a vent hole 141 in the disc portion 11 and a decorative member 2 made from a resin which is held in at least the disc portion 11 and is observed from the vent hole 141. Since the decorative member 2 is observed in the vent hole 141, the wheel main body 1 including spoke portions 14 does not have to be thinned. In addition, since the design of the decorative member is observed in cooperation with the design of the disc portion 11, the degree of freedom in design is increased.

Each spoke may include threaded holes adjacent the rim. Additional threaded holes may be disposed generally around a periphery of the hub. A hub cap may be attachable to the wheel on a first side of the wheel and include mounting extensions for attachment of the hub cap to the threaded holes around hub. Skin elements may be attachable to the wheel and include holes for attachment of one end of the skin element to one of the threaded holes adjacent the connection of the spokes to the rim. The skin elements may further include an extension disposable under a portion of the hub cap for retention of another end of the skin element by the hub cap.

摘要： A wheel end assembly is provided that allows venting of pressurized air from a chamber defined by the hubcap, but prevents entry of contaminants into the chamber. The wheel end assembly includes a hubcap that is configured to be coupled to a wheel and defines a chamber for retaining lubricant for wheel bearings for the wheel. One wall of the hubcap has an aperture in fluid communication with the chamber and a plug is disposed within the aperture. The plug defines a valve for releasing pressurized air from the chamber. The assembly finally includes a cap that is supported on the body of the plug and extends in an outboard direction. The cap is disposed over an outlet of the valve and defines a first fluid chamber in fluid communication with both the outlet of the valve and ambient air. The cap and plug can be inserted into and removed from the aperture as a unit.

The covers have perforated patterns of circles, rectangles, and the like, that can be punched out as needed to allow different sized wheel protrusions such as valve stems, central raised hub members, and the like to pass therethrough. The perforations can include a single closed pattern that allows a single opening to be created. Additionally, the perforations can be in a ring pattern about the outer perimeter of the disc. Still furthermore, the perforations can be in a central region of the disc. Still furthermore, the openings can be punched out to allow components on the wheel that heat up such as brakes, and the like, to be air cooled. The placement of the perforations does not overlap the areas of the design type indicia that can be placed on the external surface of the wheel cover.
