    Abstract: A conveyor belt cleaner and tensioner assembly adapted to be attached to a cross shaft. The conveyor belt cleaner and tensioner assembly includes a mounting base adapted to be mounted to the cross shaft and an arm member having a first end and a second end. The first end of the arm member is pivotally attached to the mounting base for pivotal movement about a pivot axis. A scraper blade is attached to the second end of the arm member. A gas spring tensioner has a first end pivotally attached to the mounting base and a second end pivotally attached the arm member. The tensioner includes a housing and a ram having a first end located within the housing and a second end located externally of the housing. The ram is extendable and retractable with respect to the housing to thereby pivot the arm member and the scraper blade about the pivot axis. The scraper blade includes a metal scraping tip having an elastomeric wear-in tip.

    Abstract: A wiper blade for endless conveyor belts has three basic components or features which improves blade performance over the prior art. These components include:1. a multiradius side profile having a concavity defining the torsion resistance point,2. a thicker base section, and3. a high profile metal mounting insert.These three components act together to substantially reduce the bending moments associated with wiper blade operation and provide an improved structural profile with a high moment of inertia and shorter effective column length. These structural improvements allow the use of softer and more wear-resistant elastic polymers without the risk of blade buckling. The multiradius concave side profiles allow the use of a short thin blade tip profile which transitions to the thicker, ridged base profile. The bending moment generated by the operational forces is now resisted primarily at the transition point of the two profiles, e.g. at the point of maximum concavity on the side opposite the conveyor and head pulley facing side of the blade. This effectively reduces the offset or eccentricity of loading up to 50% over the prior art and, thereby, reduces the bending moment to up to 50%. This reduces the tendency of the blade tip to curl downward towards the mounting base and buckle.

    Abstract: A scraper constituting a blade which is yieldingly deformable in such a manner as to be curved from a linear state to an arch shape is held by a holding groove of a holder. The holding groove of the holder is formed by a substantially parallel rail like holding groove which is gradually apart from an axis extending to a transverse direction of the belt as the holding wall goes from both ends of the belt to a central portion thereof. The scraper comprises a leg portion inserted into the holding groove of the holder, an extended standing portion projecting from the holding groove so as to be in contact with the surface of the belt and a head portion formed by thickening a thickness of said extended standing portion more than a thickness of the leg portion toward a returning direction of the belt, in which a jaw portion projecting beyond a side surface of the leg portion is formed by a lower portion of said head portion. Accordingly, the jaw portion covers over a top end of one of the rail like holding walls of the holder in a state that the leg portion of the scraper is inserted into the holding groove of the holder.

    Abstract: A conveyor flight for a conveyor assembly has an overlayment of a non-elastomeric flexible member on its front or loadbearing surface, which flexible member has a memory such that it recovers to its unloaded reference condition, thus assisting in discharge through an underlying chute or port of the materials transported by the conveyor and avoiding recycling material through the conveyor assembly. The flexible member recovery dislodges adherent material, such as compactible earth, from the conveyor flights. A cleaner assembly may optionally be provided downstream of the discharge port to insert a cleaner blade in proximity to the conveyor flight front surface to dislodge any particularly adherent residual materials that might still be attached to the front surface of the flexible member.

    Abstract: A scraper device having a number of identical scraper elements that extend one beside another substantially over the width of a conveyer belt. Each scraper element basically comprises: a metal scraper or doctor blade that is in resilient engagement with the conveyer belt; an arm that supports the scraper blade; and a resilient articulation that is disposed at the free end of the support arm. The stationary part of the articulation is releasably secured to a common support tube that extends transverse to the direction of conveyance and parallel to the conveyer belt. The point where the scraper edge engages the belt in relation to the pivot axis of the resilient articulation is such that the base of a perpendicular line from such axis to the belt lies on the approach side of the belt at a slight distance ahead of the point of engagement. A pair of retaining bolts is provided to secure each scraper element, each such pair being disposed on the support tube with their axes symmetrical of a plane extending along the perpendicular line and transverse to the direction of conveyance, with the ends of the bolts projecting toward the conveyer belt, the stationary part of the articulation being adjustably secured to the projecting ends. This form of securing enables individual scraper elements to be adjusted while the conveyer belt is moving, and also obviates shifts in the alignment of the scraping edge relative to scraper elements which have not been adjusted.
