摘要： An image pickup module including an optical element capable of functioning as an aperture and/or a shutter. The optical element includes a pair of transparent electrode substrates with a liquid crystal-photopolymer interposed therebetween. The image pickup module further includes a lens for making images and a sensor for converting the light passing through the lens into electrical signals. The optical element can be electrically operated to function as an aperture and/or a shutter without additional mechanical operating means. Being electrically operated, the optical element can reduce the size of the image pickup module in addition to protecting the image pickup module from mechanical noises and impacts which arise from the use of mechanical driving means.

A flexoelectric liquid crystal display has a first substrate, a second substrate parallel to the first substrate, a common electrode region, a pixel electrode region, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first and second substrates. The common electrode region is disposed on the first substrate and connected to the liquid crystal layer. The pixel electrode region is disposed on the second substrate and connected to the liquid crystal layer. Two electrical fields of equal magnitude in opposite directions are generated between the common and pixel electrode regions.

Said device comprises a liquid crystal layer that is built into an active zone (2) between substrates, the exterior of each of said substrates being covered by pole filters that are aligned in an arrangement for the currentless negative display. 摘要： An active matrix type liquid crystal display system having a liquid crystal composition being interposed between a first and a second substrates, a plurality of pixel parts being constructed with a plurality of scanning electrodes and a plurality of signal electrodes arranged in a matrix, a switching element being provided in each of the pixel parts, wherein the switching element is connected to a pixel electrode, the pixel electrode and a common electrode facing being so constructed as to be operable in keeping the major axes of the liquid crystal molecules parallel to the surface of the substrate. In pixel part, the signal electrode and the pixel electrode is formed and a shield electrode is formed between the signal electrode and the pixel electrode. The system requires no transparent electrode, being excellent in visual angle characteristic, being high in contrast, being small in cross-talk producing probability.

摘要： In a liquid-crystal color display having a pair of light-transmitting substrates disposed opposite each other sandwiching a liquid crystal layer between them and color selecting members and a light blocking member provided on one of the pair of light-transmitting substrates, light-transmitting pixel electrodes are disposed on the liquid crystal layer side of one of the light-transmitting substrates. The pixel electrodes disposed adjacent to each other correspond to different color selecting members and are formed extending into each other's display area in alternating fashion. Accordingly, display patterns formed by adjacent pixel electrodes are allowed to overlap each other, thus making it possible to increase the number of display patterns per unit display area.
