    摘要: In a method of driving a bistable nematic dot-matrix liquid crystal display panel, from the facts that a write waveform contains a DC component and that liquid crystal molecules have not yet reached a stable state of anchoring force immediately after the end of writing but gradually become the stable state, it is considered that charges still remain in liquid crystal even at the time point when a COM electrode and a SEG electrode have become GND. Although the residual charges resulting from single writing cause no problem because its period is short, the residual charges after writing break down the bistable liquid crystal display panel as the number of rewriting increases. Immediately after a waveform for rewriting the bistable liquid crystal display panel was applied, an AC waveform of a voltage lower than the last pulse of a drive waveform was applied. Further, the voltage was allowed to gradually approach 0 V.

    摘要: Pixel electrode driver circuit is disclosed, which include a data signal line, a first latch circuit composed of a three-stage shift circuit, and a second latch circuit connected to each latch, and in which each output of the second latch circuit is connected to each of electrodes corresponding to pixels in respective colors of red, green, and blue to thereby drive every 2 to 32 electrodes in a time division manner. Further, the pixel electrode driver circuit has a positive power supply connected to a control line of the latch circuit for power supply, and two pairs of wirings extending in vertical and horizontal directions and consisting of a data signal line and one control line, and another control line and a GND line are used for connection to the pixel electrode substrate. Further, the pixel electrode driver circuits have a mirror-symmetry suitable for substrate formation by an FSA method.

The common driver is powered by a high power supply voltage and outputs row driving waveforms having predetermined voltage levels, which are relatively high. The segment driver is powered by a low power supply voltage and outputs column driving waveforms having predetermined voltage levels, which are relatively low. By this construction, it is not necessary for both the segment and common drivers to be high withstand voltage integrated circuit devices.

    摘要: In method of driving a bistable nematic dot-matrix liquid crystal display panel, a first pulse voltage is applied to nematic liquid crystal molecules to raise the nematic liquid crystal molecules in the longitudinal direction. After application of the first pulse voltage, a second pulse voltage is applied to the nematic liquid crystal molecules for selecting one of two stable orientation states of the nematic liquid crystal molecules. Immediately after the application of the second pulse voltage, an AC pulse waveform of a voltage lower than a last pulse of the second pulse voltage is applied to thereby remove residual electric charges remaining in the bistable nematic dot-matrix liquid crystal display panel.

    摘要: There is provided a simple matrix liquid crystal panel in which the number of changes in waveform on a column electrode is suppressed without degrading a display quality even when the number of gray scales is increased, and a consumption power can be reduced. Pulse width modulation is performed with a sum total of a plurality of pulses selected in a plurality of frames, and the number of changes in column electrode for displaying a half tone pixel data on a pixel is set as 1 during the plurality of frames. Further, an occurrence order of dividing frames in an odd row is made different from that in an even row and interlaced scanning is conducted. Thus, the consumption power is greatly reduced as compared with the case of conventional pulse width modulation.
