摘要: The largest of padlocks or security cables are easily defeated with bolt cutters. Thieves can readily sever the shackle of a padlock or a cable and hook up a trailer loaded with an expensive boat or other expensive equipment; and be off with it. Since padlocks currently do not wirelessly excite deterrents such as audio or visual alarms or alert authorities, thieves can conduct their nefarious activities in stealth. The GOTCHA alerts loud audible alarms, flashing lights and can activate scrutiny systems as both a deterrent and a means of alerting the powers that be. The GOTCHA is portable, wireless, and impervious to the effects of weather; and its protection cannot be defeated by destroying it. The GOTCHA accessory makes a padlock a part of a security system.

摘要: The invention relates to methods and devices for protecting an article against theft. Once a protection element is in the on-position, a selection signal is transmitted from an emitter to a receiver provided in the protection element, in order to associate the protection element with the emitter and to shift said protection element into a connection mode. The receiver is then deactivated in the connection mode. The deactivation of the receiver reduces the energy consumption of the protection element, and prevents the protection element from unintentionally receiving other selection signals. Once the protection element has been shifted into an alarm state, for example, due to an attempted theft, the receiver thereof is reactivated, in order to reauthorize the reception of a selection signal. The alarm state can be terminated by one such selection signal.

摘要: An electronic device has a chassis, and a printed wiring board (PWB) having a hole. A fastener is installed in the hole thereby securing the PWB to the chassis. A pair of conductive traces is formed in the PWB. A cap, being an amount of conductive glue, covers a part of the fastener and fills an electrically insulating gap between the two traces, to thereby form a conductive path that connects the two traces. A sensing circuit is coupled to the traces, to detect a change in impedance of the path and signal a tamper event alert. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

摘要: A method and apparatus for monitoring one or more components of a wireless communication network. Preferably, an alarm system is linked to one or more components of a wireless communication network to determine whether the one or more components have been tampered with, removed or otherwise disabled. The monitored component can be a ground system in a cellular telephone network. The alarm system can include at least one conductive path linked to a ground bar of a ground system in a cellular telephone network such that if the ground bar is removed from the cellular telephone network the at least one conductive path is severed thereby generating an alarm signal. The alarm signal may take the form of an audible alarm (e.g., a horn), a visual alarm (e.g., flashing lights) and/or a signal transmitted to a monitoring station indicating that the ground bar has been removed and the equipment at the tower site is now vulnerable to lighting strikes. Preferably, the alarm system is configured such that it can be readily installed in existing sites as well as new sites. The at least one conductive path may be linked to two or more ground bars in series such that removal of either ground bar will result in the generation of an alarm signal. Alternatively, multiple ground bars at a single tower site can be monitored independent of each other.
