    摘要: A communication system, apparatus and method are provided according to embodiments of the present invention. The communication system includes: a base band unit (BBU), at least two antennas and at least two radio-frequency (RF) units, where the at least two RF units are connected with the BBU respectively; and each of the antennas is connected with at least two RF units respectively, so that a signal received from a same sector by an antenna is sent to the BBU via different RF units. With the embodiments of the present invention, the reliability of RF units may be improved without increasing the hardware cost of the base station.

    摘要: A method providing communications for a wireless terminal in a wireless communication network may include providing communications for the wireless terminal from a first antenna array for a first base station sector. Responsive to receiving an entry notification that the wireless terminal has entered a border area between the first base station sector and a second base station sector, a load in the second base station sector may be compared with a load threshold. Responsive to the load in the second base station sector being less than the load threshold, multipoint communications may be provided for the wireless terminal through the first antenna array for the first base station sector and through a second antenna array for the second base station sector. Responsive to the load in the second base station sector being greater than the load threshold, multipoint communications may be blocked for the wireless terminal.

    摘要: Methods and systems for packet-by-packet directional mobile wireless transmission utilizing plurality of directional antenna sectors, such that, the transmission of each packet is performed by at least one selected antenna sector. A plurality of directional antenna sectors, at least one receiving controller, and at least one transmitting controller, are all physically located at the same location. The direction of transmission is selected responsive to the direction in which the best electromagnetic signal reception was received. For each plurality of data packets, the transmission direction is selected again. Switching logic is coupling the out going transmission signal to selected ones from the plurality of the antennas responsive to the motion of the mobile user. The antenna design in this invention is aimed at increasing the gain and minimizing the interfering signals with respect large number of mobile users who are concurrently and continuously tracking and communicating with their access points, and consequently, increasing the bit rate of each transmission and the aggregate capacity of the wireless system.

    摘要: Disclosed is a signal processing system in a base station that receives and processes single carrier or multiple carrier signals from transmitting units in a sectored coverage area with at least one transmit antenna and at least one receive antenna, the signal power gain between transmit and receive antennas within each sector being represented as a channel matrix with path gains. The system comprises: a detection unit that determines if signals from a given target transmitting unit is available in the signal received in a sector, and generates a detect signal for a combination unit; a decision unit that selects size of interference cancellation matrix; and an interference cancellation unit. When the signal from detection unit indicates that signal from a target transmitting unit is in the signal associated with at least two sectors, the decision unit joins channel matrices associated with the sectors to generate a large channel matrix, and using the resulting large channel matrix, the interference cancellation unit eliminates interference or generates originally transmitted signal. When the signal from detection unit indicates that signal from a target transmitting unit is in the signal of only one sector, the interference cancellation unit eliminates interference from the received signal, using the channel matrix associated with the one sector.

In the wireless communication apparatus (100), repetition sections (102-1 to 102-n) repeat each data symbol inputted from modulating sections (101-1 to 101-n) to create a plurality of identical data symbols. An allocating section (103) outputs each data symbol to a multiplexing section (105) by allocating the data symbol to a plurality of subcarriers constituting an OFDM symbol. At this time, the allocating section (103) allocates at least one of the repeated identical symbols to a subcarrier different from a subcarrier to which the symbol is allocated in an adjacent sector.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a node in a wireless communication system, the node having a central point and comprising at least two antenna functions. Each antenna function is arranged to cover a corresponding sector area, the sector areas being positioned around the central point successively such that each sector area is adjacent to at least one other sector area separated by corresponding borders. The polarization of at least one of said antenna functions is variable between the borders of the corresponding sector area such that for each border, the polarizations of the antenna functions at each side of the border are essentially orthogonal at the border.
