The method further comprises transmitting an outbound message from the first transceiver (28A) via the first antenna (29A) or from the second transceiver (28B) via the second antenna (29B), the outbound message comprising a plurality of message bytes, receiving the outbound message at the third (29A) and fourth (29B) antennas and associated third (28A) and fourth (28B) transceivers, determining correct bytes and error bytes in the outbound message as received at the third transceiver (28A), determining correct bytes and error bytes in the outbound message as received at the fourth transceiver (28B), and assembling a reconstructed message using correct bytes from the message received at the third transceiver (28A) and the fourth transceiver (28B).

    摘要: Provided is a low-complexity transmit/receive antenna selection method for Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) systems. The method includes the steps of generating a gain matrix of receive channel, calculating norm values of channel gains for each row (receive antennas) and column (transmit antennas) of the generated gain matrix of the receive channel, selecting an antenna with the maximum norm value among the calculated norm values of channel gains, and repeatedly performing the process of alternately selecting transmit and receive antennas having the maximum channel gain value among the channel gain values of the selected antenna until a required number of antennas is all selected.

    摘要: A radio-over-fiber (RoF) wireless picocellular system adapted to form an array of substantially non-overlapping individual picocells by operating adjacent picocells at different frequencies is operated to form one or more combined picocells. The combined picocells are formed from two or more neighboring picocells by the central head-end station operating neighboring picocells at a common frequency. Communication between the central head-end station and a client device residing within a combined picocell is enhanced by the availability of two or more transponder antenna systems. Thus, enhanced communication techniques such as antenna diversity, phased-array antenna networks and multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) methods can be implemented to provide the system with enhanced performance capability. These techniques are preferably implemented at the central head-end station to avoid having to make substantial changes to the wireless picocellular system infrastructure.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for selecting antennas in a MIMO multi-carrier system is provided to effectively select a receive antenna group with better signal detection capability, thereby enhancing system performance. The apparatus includes a channel estimator and an antenna selector. The channel estimator generates a channel matrix of each MIMO channel in response to each sub-carrier. The antenna selector generates a parameter of transmission capacity for each possible receive antenna group in response to each sub-carrier, and selects a receive antenna group with an optimal overall transmission capacity according to the parameter of transmission capacity.
