Abstract:
An image communication apparatus comprises an email receiving unit for receiving an email; facsimile-forwarding unit for facsimile-forwarding the email received by the email receiving unit; a forwarding-size-upper-limit setting unit for setting a predetermined forwarding size upper limit; and a facsimile-forward limiting unit for limiting the facsimile-forwarding when the forwarding size to be facsimile-forwarded by the facsimile-forwarding unit exceeds the forwarding size upper limit set by the forwarding-upper-limit-size setting unit.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus searches for an apparatus that has a transmission destination that can be accessed from an image forming apparatus on a network when a transmission destination of file transmission processing cannot be accessed from the image forming apparatus, generates a process flow including processing in which the image forming apparatus transmits a file to the transmission destination in the apparatus found through the search and transmits the generated process flow to the image forming apparatus, and generates a process flow including processing for moving the file from the transmission destination in the apparatus found through the search to a designated transmission destination and stores the generated process flow in the information processing apparatus. The information processing apparatus executes the generated process flow when the end of the processing is notified from the image forming apparatus.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus and an imaging method supply an optimum amount of image data to another apparatus. When a PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps, a mobile phone determines that the maximum speed of communication with the PDA is low, reduces the amount of moving image data captured by a CCD of the mobile phone accordingly, and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA therefore displays a low-quality moving image on its display unit. When the PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbps, the CPU of the mobile phone leaves unchanged the amount of moving picture data captured by the CCD and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA then displays a high-quality moving image on its display unit. The foregoing may be advantageously applied to digital cameras.
Abstract:
Data is input to a printing device such as a multifunction printer. The data is converted to text data if required. An embedded database driver in the printing device converts the data to a format that is compatible with the database.
Abstract:
IP network communication device which allows facsimile communication conforming to ITU-T recommendation V.34 in the network conforming to ITU-T recommendation T.38. This IP network communication device comprises a call controller for setting the call connection of a voice channel with another communication device, a voice controller which generates packets from voice data and facsimile data, sends the packets to the other communication device, and restores voice data or facsimile data from the packets received from the other communication device, and a digital signal processor which mediates the communication of voice data and facsimile data between an accommodated terminal and the voice controller. The digital signal processor turns ON the facsimile tone detecting function, echo canceling function, and fluctuation absorption buffer function if voice data is communicated, and turns these functions OFF if facsimile data is communicated.

Abstract:
A cordless facsimile system capable of realizing a telephone answering function, without a separate telephone answering device. The cordless facsimile system with a telephone answering function includes a stationary base unit connected to a public switched telephone network (PSTN) and a cordless, mobile facsimile unit in radio communication with the base unit. The cordless, mobile facsimile unit includes a radio circuit for demodulating a signal input from the base unit and modulating a transmission signal to transmit the modulated signal to the base unit; a voice processor for converting an analog voice signal output from the radio circuit into digital voice data and converting the digital voice data into the analog voice signal to transmit the converted analog voice signal to the radio circuit; a memory for storing voice data for an outgoing message and an incoming message; a controller for establishing a speech path to the PSTN via the base unit upon receiving an incoming ring signal from the base unit, reading the voice data for the outgoing message stored in the memory to transmit the read voice data to the base unit through the voice processor and the radio circuit, and storing in the memory the voice data for the incoming message received from the PSTN via the radio circuit and the voice processor.
Abstract:
A communication connecting device includes a data storage to which data read by a scanner are written. A packetizer packetizes the data read out of the data storage in accordance with a packet size fed from a size information storage. A rate controller counts a period of time after the start of packet transmission or a period of time consumed to send a preselected number of packets. The rate controller calculates a communication rate on the basis of the above period of time and the number of packets sent, and then compares the communication rate with a communication rate assigned to a receiving terminal and defined by a Recommendation T.30 protocol. The rate controller allows the packets to be sent only if the calculated communication rate is lower than the communication rate of the receiving terminal.
Abstract:
A controller determines whether a transmission data amount of the image data exceeds a limit capacity of a mail server connected the electronic mail communication apparatus before an actual transmission of the image data. Further, when the transmission data amount of the image data exceeds the limit capacity of the mail server, automatic processing is performed so that an electronic mail including image data can be transmitted. Accordingly, electronic mail communication apparatus of the present invention is capable of enabling users to save a lot of time for the image transmission.
