摘要： A luggage lock is composed of a lock body, a retainer engageable and disengageable with the lock body, and a retaining strap fastened at one end thereof with the retainer and at another end thereof with the body of a luggage to which the lock body is fastened. The lock body is provided with a locking and unlocking mechanism which works to enable the lock body to engage or disengage the retainer. The retaining strap is intended for use in securing the luggage to a fixed object such as a pole, guardrail, etc.

摘要： A suitcase fastener has a retaining member secured to the cover of a suitcase and a fastening assembly mounted on the case of the suitcase to engage the retaining member for holding the case and the cover together. The fastening assembly includes a base block with a receiving space. A first swing member has one end portion pivoted to the base block and another end portion biased away from the receiving space. A clasp member, pivoted to the other end portion of the first swing member, has a hook element and an engagement element at two end portions thereof and is biased to an unfolded position relative to the first swing member. The swing member and the clasp member are operable to be moved to their folded position in which the hook element is pressed to engage the retaining member and in which the other end portion of the first swing member and the engagement element of the clasp member are pressed into the receiving space. A second swing member, fulcrumed inside the receiving space, has a beak portion that is capable of engaging the engagement element when the engagement element is moved into the receiving space, and a tail portion that is capable of being pressed to release the beak portion from the engagement element so as to permit the swing member to be biased away from the receiving space and so as to disengage the hook element from the retaining member.

摘要： A luggage latch for securing together two relatively movable parts has a latch housing on one of the parts, a latch component on the other of the parts engageable in the latch housing, and a keeper displaceable in the latch housing between a retaining position engaging and retaining the latch component and a freeing position out of engagement with the latch component and permitting same to be withdrawn from the housing. A combination lock on the housing has combination-lock elements operatively engageable with the keeper and movable between a locked position and an unlocked position respectively corresponding to the retaining and freeing positions of the keeper. In addition a key lock on the housing has a key-lock element operatively engageable with the keeper and movable between a locked position and an unlocked position respectively corresponding to the retaining and freeing position of the keeper. Either of the locks is capable of moving the keeper from the retaining to the freeing position regardless of the position of the other lock. The retaining position of the keeper is a central position and the keeper can move in opposite directions into two end freeing positions. The combination lock allows the keeper to move into one freeing position when it is unlocked and the key lock moves it into the other freeing position when it is unlocked.

The present invention utilizes one combination lock to control two fasteners and housing the combination lock inside the handle for the suitcase which simplifies the structure and reduces the production cost as well as provides good locking functions.

摘要： A locking system is described for securing luggage to a fixed object to prevent the theft or unauthorized removal of such luggage. The unique system comprises a compact durable housing having an opening therein, a rotatable spool contained within the housing, a length of flexible cable carried on the spool, the cable having first and second ends. The second end of the cable is secured to the spool; and the first end includes a first component of a separable lock device. A second component of the lock device is secured to the housing in a manner such that when the first end of the cable is withdrawn from the housing, passed through a handle or loop of the luggage, and then around the fixed object, the first component of the lock device can be coupled to the second component to thereby secure the luggage to the fixed object. The locking system is especially suited for use by travelers to secure their luggage in terminals (e.g., airports, depots, etc.) so that it is protected from theft or unauthorized removal. The locking system is small and light-weight so that it is easily carried and stored. In an alternative embodiment the locking system may be secured to an interior wall of an item of luggage having two openings therein. The first end of the cable can be pulled through one of the openings, passed around a fixed object, and then through the other opening where it is coupled to the second lock component.

摘要： A hardware assembly for luggage and the like includes a latch pivotally supported on a luggage case and held in a closed position by engagement between catch elements on the latch and cooperating catch elements on a control member supported for movement along the case, the control member being biased in a direction to engage the catch elements. A pivoted manual actuator associated with the latch engages the control member and is capable of moving the control member in a direction to disengage the catch elements to allow the latch to be opened, when the manual actuator is operated. The catch elements serve as a safety catch to prevent the latch from being opened until the catch elements are disengaged. The hardware assembly may further include a latching slide member coupled to the latch by a link member for movement with the latch, and for engaging a cooperable latch element on a second part of the case when the latch is in the closed position. A combination lock may also be included for blocking movement of the control member necessary to open the latch.
