    摘要: A method of preventing a first door on an over-the-road vehicle from moving from a closed position into an open position. The first door has a first latch assembly that cooperates with a second latch assembly to releasably maintain the first door in its closed position. One of the first and second latch assemblies is maintained in place by at least one fastener extended into a first opening. With the at least one fastener loosened, the first locking assembly is placed on one of: a) one of the doors; or b) the vehicle frame after which a fastener is tightened into the first opening to thereby: i) maintain one of the first and second latch assemblies in place and secure the operatively placed first locking assembly. With the first door in the closed position, a locking device can be connected to the first locking assembly and another part on the vehicle to thereby maintain the first door in the closed position.

    摘要: A gate latch is adapted to be installed on a gate post and a complementary striker arm is secured typically to a gate so that, upon closure of the gate, the striker arm engages a displacable latching element mounted in a housing of the latch to displace the latching element. The latching element is biased towards its open position but when the striker arm engages with the latching element it is displaced, thereby releasing an interference portion of a biased locking element, whereby the locking element is released to move under its biasing into a locking position so that self-locking is provided for the latch. A rotary release mechanism may be actuated to return the locking element so that the latching element can be released to release the striker bar and the gate may be opened.

    摘要: A passive lock assembly is suitable for use with a door mounted to a door frame. The passive lock assembly includes a housing, a bolt, an actuator, and a stop member. The housing is mounted on the door. The bolt extends from the housing and is moveable between an extended position and a retracted position. The actuator is supported by the housing and is operably connected to the bolt. Additionally, the actuator is moveable to move the bolt between the extended position and the retracted position. The stop member is pivotably connected to the housing and pivotable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the stop member engages an engagement surface of the actuator to obstruct movement of the actuator and prevent movement of the bolt to the retracted position, and in the second position, the stop member does not obstruct movement of the actuator.

    摘要: A bi-swing gate lock uses an electric actuator to unlatch the gate on request, and a failsafe mode that automatically unlatches the gate during emergencies or power failures. The traplock uses two swing arms that pivot retractable door stops in and out on either side of a closed gate from a stationary 4″ post. Loads trying to force open a locked gate are redirected through polyurethane pads on the sides of the retractable door stops directly to the insides of matching pockets within the post. Such loads can flex the swing arms, but significant loads will not reach the swing arm pivot bearings. Keeping the gate locked requires electric power applied to a lock actuator, and the loss of power automatically unlocks the traplock. Power applied to a retraction actuator pushes out the retractable door stops. A sensor detects when the gate returns to a closed position and the lock actuator can be energized once again.

    摘要: The invention is concerned with a lock mechanism of the kind having a deadbolt (9) which is operable by either an inside actuator or an outside actuator. The inside actuator usually includes a turn knob or the like, and the outside actuator usually includes a key operated lock. The lock mechanism includes a gear train (8) through which each of the two actuators is drivably connected to the deadbolt (9). The gear train includes two drive gears (13, 14) which are independently rotatable about a common axis of rotation, and each is connected to a respective one of the two actuators so as to rotate in response to operation of that actuator. The gear train (8) also includes two driven gear (17, 18) which are united to form a single piece composite gear (16), and each driven gear (17, 18) is cooperable with a respective one of the two drive gears (13, 14). The composite gear (16) is connected to the deadbolt (9) so that the deadbolt (9) moves between operative and inoperative positions in response to rotation of the composite gear (16). Each actuator adopts a rest position when the deadbolt (9) is in the inoperative position, and neither drive gear (13, 14) cooperatively engages with the composite gear (16) when the respective actuator is in the rest position. Furthermore, the gear arrangement is such that the outside actuator turns through 360° to cause the deadbolt (9) to move from one of its positions to the other, whereas 180° rotation of the inside actuator is sufficient to effect the same degree of deadbolt movement
