This invention relates an improvement of the torque transfer mechanism exclusively applied to the socket wrench. General speaking, it is an improvement made on the prior art of the socket wrench now popular and available in the tool market. Inside the shank of the socket wrench, it contains a rotary rod connected with a bevel gear which is further meshed with a ring gears on the wrench head. Without changing the profile of the socket wrench, it forms a torque transfer mechanism with robust structure and easy assembly. It provides stable and practical output of the torque for tightening and loosening the bolt.

The present invention relates generally to ratchet tools and in particular to a device to reduce spreading of the head of the ratchet tool. According to the present invention, a novel thrust washer is provided which prevents spreading apart of the head. The thrust washer is characterized by a decreased overall-diameter to edge-height ratio. The present invention also presents an alternative embodiment in which the height of the thrust washer is decreased while the height of the shank spindle is increased to prevent spreading of the head.

The shroud is immovable relative to the cylindrical portion and includes an upper wall, two side walls and a lower wall. The lower wall has a substantially linear portion and an arcuately shaped central web structure extending from the linear portion. The front opening in the shroud is formed by a front edge of the upper wall, an upper edge of the central web structure, and edges of the two side walls. The housing further has a cover for closing the front opening in the shroud, which cover is attached to and overlaps both a front portion of the upper wall and the lower wall.
