摘要： A hole-opener tool for use in enlarging a well-bore. It includes a body arranged for attachment at the upper end to a rotary drill string or the like, and having a lower end arranged for positioning in the well-bore to be enlarged. The body has a plurality of vertically extending slots which are generally dovetailed in transverse section. Each of the slots is arranged to receive a removable cutter arm adapted for insertion in and retention therein. Each of the arms has a dove-tail shaped retaining portion which mateably engages the dove-tail slots, whereby the arms are held against radial and circumferential displacement relative to the body. The arms are also held in position by retainer pins passing through the body and engaging the arm, and cutter rollers are supported on the arms for cutting the wall of the adjacent well-bore to enlarge the same.

摘要： A raise bit for enlarging a pilot hole into a larger diameter hole by disintegrating the earth formations surrounding the pilot hole includes a removable drive stem. The removable drive stem allows the raise bit to be transported through small drifts and helps extend the useful lifetime of the raise bit. The raise bit may be assembled without weakening the highly-stressed, heattreated drive stem by welding. The raise bit body includes a multiplicity of rolling cutters for contacting and disintegrating the earth formations surrounding the pilot hole. The raise bit body includes a fixed collar with a truncated conical inside surface. A two-piece, split, removable collar with an inside surface that matches the outside surface of the drive stem and a conical outer surface that matches the inside surface of the fixed collar is positioned around the drive stem. A flange at the end of the drive stem allows the split collar to be drawn up into the fixed collar thereby developing frictional forces between the mating surfaces of the fixed collar, the split collar, and the drive stem. A preload is induced into the system to insure proper torque transmittal at low bit loads.

摘要： A roller reamer stabilizer the bearings of which are lubricated by air bleed from the centre core of the drill string. The roller cutters are mounted in recesses in the body such that the roller cutters are free to rotate about their bearing pins in suitable journal bearing blocks. The bearing blocks are provided with passage means from the centre bore of the drill string to provide the said air lubrication. The air also serves as a cushion between the roller and the bearings.
