    摘要: A wellbore roller-reamer comprises a mandrel rotatable about a mandrel axis, and a first roller mounted around the mandrel and having an outer reaming surface for engaging a wall of a wellbore. The first roller is rotatable relative to the mandrel about a first roller axis which is offset from the mandrel axis such that, during use, rotation of the mandrel with the outer reaming surface engaged with a wall of the wellbore causes the first roller to be driven to rotate relative to the mandrel and ream the wall of the wellbore.

    摘要: A drilling tool includes a pilot bit coupled to an eccentric reamer that has a reaming side and a stabilizing side. A fluid passageway extends between the reamer and the pilot bit, and the tool includes at least one upwardly-directed nozzle in fluid communication with the fluid passageway and positioned on the stabilizing side of the reamer. The reamer may include a plurality of angularly spaced blades on the reaming side that radially extend a first distance, the reamer blades being disposed within a first arcuate segment defined by the two most distant reamer blades. One or more stabilizing blades extend a second distance that is less than the first distance, the stabilization blades being disposed within a second arcuate segment defined by the two most distant reamer blades and that has the angular measure equal to 360 degrees minus the first arcuate segment.

    摘要: Embodiments of a reamer of the present invention generally include a substantially tubular body sub, a substantially planar base plate having one or more receiving cavities disposed therein, one or more gussets, a fluid chamber, and a plurality of leg/cone assemblies having a leg end and a cone end; wherein the base plate is disposed around the body sub and stabilized by the gussets, and each leg end comprises an exterior surface geometry complementary to the interior surface geometry of a base plate receiving cavity and is insertable into and affixable therein. The receiving cavities are constructed in defined locations and orientations in the base plate and the leg/cone assemblies are precisely formed such that insertion of the leg end into the receiving cavity accurately and precisely disposes the cutting component about the reamer. Embodiments of methods of providing and using an apparatus of the present invention are also provided.

    摘要: A rotary cutter assembly constructed in accordance with this method of securing a rotary cutter to a body has a cutter pocket with a first shoulder and a truncated second shoulder. A receptacle extends into the first shoulder. A first retainer retains a first axle end of the rotary cutter and engages the first shoulder to prevent axial movement in a first direction. A projection on the first retainer engages the receptacle to prevent removal of the first retainer radially from the cutter pocket. A second retainer retains a second axle end of the rotary cutter. The second retainer has a step down portion engaging the truncated second shoulder of the cutter pocket to prevent axial movement in a second direction. A locking ring overlies the truncated second shoulder and the step down portion of the second retainer to prevent removal of the second retainer radially from the cutter pocket.

    摘要: A blockless reamer drilling tool comprising an elongated tool body and a reamer unit. The reamer unit includes, a shaft having a first end and a second end and a cutter mounted on the shaft between the first and second ends. A pocket on the exterior surface of the tool body is sized to accept the reamer unit with a portion of the reamer unit recessed in the pocket. A plurality of pins engage the tool body and secure the reamer unit within the pocket. The plurality of pins includes a first pin engaging the tool body and passing through the shaft at the first end and a second pin engaging the tool body and passing through the shaft at the second end.

    摘要: A drilling tool for use in drilling operations for providing shock absorption capability and lateral support to the rotary drill string. The telescoping axial load shock absorber is positioned immediately adjacent at least one lateral support provided by a reamer or stabilizer. The stabilizer preferably employs a removable fixed blade secured to the tool by an undercut groove. The roller cutter for a reamer is also mounted in a preferred unique manner with the mounting blocks secured in a recess having an undercut retainer portion in the event of bolting failure. The mounting's brackets may be formed integral of the tool body or attached by welding or the like. A preferred form of mounting a blade on a stabilizer tool is also disclosed.
