Abstract: In multicast management, topology information identifying multicast distribution paths is maintained at a router serving as a root of a multicast distribution tree and/or as a first hop router. The router can detect congestion or failures based on messages from other routers. The router can request another router to change the multicast distribution paths as needed to load-balance the traffic, avoid congestion or failure, or eliminate duplicate traffic. In some embodiments, ECMP Redirect functionality is expanded to ECMP paths of arbitrary number of hops. Other features are also provided.

Abstract: This application discloses a gateway configuration method and a gateway device, so as to resolve problems of a relatively heavy configuration workload, update inflexibility, and low configuration efficiency that exist when an OM entity is used to uniformly configure gateways in an LTE system. The method includes: configuring, by a control plane gateway, a parameter for a user plane gateway, and sending, by the control plane gateway, a configuration message to the user plane gateway, where the configuration message carries the configuration parameter configured by the control plane gateway for the user plane gateway. In this application, the control plane gateway configures the parameter for the user plane gateway, so that the control plane gateway implements configuration of the user plane gateway, and configuration flexibility and configuration efficiency are improved.

Abstract: Described are programmable IO devices configured to perform operations. These operations comprise: determining a set of range-based elements for a network; sorting the set of range-based elements according to a global order among the range-based elements; generating an interval table from the sorted range-based elements; generating an interval binary search tree from the interval table; propagating data stored in subtrees of interior stages of the interval binary search tree to subtrees of a last stage of the interval binary search tree such that the interior stages do not comprise data; converting the interval binary search tree to a Pensando Tree; compressing multiple levels of the Pensando Tree into cache-lines; and assembling the cache-lines in the memory unit such that each stage can compute an address of a next-cache line to be fetched by a next stage.

Abstract: A network system includes a main network implementing a conventional network protocol and a subtree of battery-powered nodes implementing a custom network protocol. The main network and the subtree are managed according to different subtree parameters. When a root node receives a request by a battery-powered node to join the subtree, the root node determines whether to allow the battery-powered node to join based on the subtree parameters for the subtree before sending a response to the battery-powered node.

Abstract: Energy-aware configurations can be utilized to operate a network based on sustainability-related metrics. In many embodiments, a suitable device includes a processor, a memory commutatively coupled to the processor, a plurality of elements, a communication port, and an energy-aware topology logic configured to collect topology data from one or more network devices, wherein each of the one or more network devices include a plurality of elements. The energy-aware topology logic can receive power source data and power usage data related to plurality of elements and generate an element energy coefficient (EEC) for a plurality of elements. Subsequently, the energy-aware topology logic can also generate an energy-aware configuration for at least one of the one or more network devices, and then pass the generated energy-aware configuration to the at least one network device, wherein the energy-aware configuration is configured to steer traffic based on at least one sustainability-related metric.

Abstract: A system and method for providing on-demand edge compute. The system may include an orchestrator that provides a UI and that controls an abstraction layer for implementing a workflow for providing on-demand edge compute. The abstraction layer may include a server configuration orchestration (SCO) system (e.g., a Metal-as-a-Service (MaaS) system) and API that may provide an interface between the orchestrator and the SCO. The API may enable the orchestrator to communicate with the SCO for receiving requests that enable the SCO to integrate with existing compute resources to perform various compute provisioning tasks (e.g., to build and provision a server instance). The various tasks, when executed, may provide on-demand edge compute service to users. The SCO API may further enable the ECS orchestrator to receive information from the SCO (e.g., compute resource information, status messages).

Abstract: Embodiments include apparatuses, methods, and systems of routing network containing a set of sources, a primary destination, a set of secondary destinations, and one or more routing elements. A routing element includes an input port, a set of output ports including a primary output port and a set of secondary output ports, and a control unit. The control unit is arranged to select a secondary output port to deliver a received message when the intended destination of the message is a secondary destination and the secondary output port is in a functional state. Abstract: The present invention relates to IoT devices existing in a deployed ecosystem. The various computers in the deployed ecosystem are able to respond to requests from a device directly associated with it in a particular hierarchy, or it may seek a response to the request from a high order logic/data source (parent). The logic/data source parent may then repeat the understanding process to either provide the necessary response to the logic/data source child who then replies to the device or it will again ask a parent logic/data sources for the appropriate response. This architecture allows for a single device to make one request to a single known source and potentially get a response back from the entire ecosystem of distributed servers.
