摘要: Some embodiments of the invention provide a network forwarding element that can be dynamically reconfigured to adjust its data message processing to stay within a desired operating temperature or power consumption range. In some embodiments, the network forwarding element includes (1) a data-plane forwarding circuit (“data plane”) to process data tuples associated with data messages received by the IC, and (2) a control-plane circuit (“control plane”) for configuring the data plane forwarding circuit. The data plane includes several data processing stages to process the data tuples. The data plane also includes an idle-signal injecting circuit that receives from the control plane configuration data that the control plane generates based on the IC's temperature. Based on the received configuration data, the idle-signal injecting circuit generates idle control signals for the data processing stages. Each stage that receives an idle control signal enters an idle state during which the majority of the components of that stage do not perform any operations, which reduces the power consumed and temperature generated by that stage during its idle state.

摘要: A method of for performing carbon neutralization in a communication network is provided. The method includes receiving a service task from a user equipment. The method also includes obtaining a carbon neutralization calculation parameter related to performing the received service task. The method further includes selecting, based on the obtained carbon neutralization calculation parameter, a target entity from a plurality of candidate targets at which the received service task can be performed. The method further includes sending the received service task to the selected target entity.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for power management in communication devices, particularly based on cable connectivity. A power management component in a system may be configured to obtain measurements associated with a signal path used for communication by the system via a communication port, and manage power use in the system based on the obtained measurement. Managing the power use may include determining, based on the obtained measurements, connectivity related information associated with connectivity of the system via the communication port, and applying based on the information one or more power use reduction measures, with the one or more power use reduction measures including at least transitioning between different power related states.

摘要: The present invention relates to a control system, in particular a lighting control system, having a control line to control power modes of network components, such as data forwarding components as well as end nodes, e.g. application control components, according to a global application plan. Controlling the power modes may comprise switching off data-ports in the control network. A data-forwarding device having switchable data port can be used to switch off data paths “in efficio” through the control network. Furthermore, a protocol to interrogate the status of a network component as well as to receive a schedule for unattended operation is provided, thereby enabling improved energy usage and enhanced safety.

摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for powering an electrical consumer (3, 4, 5) via a data connection (6, 7, 8). The apparatus comprises a power supply (2) for supplying power to the electrical consumer via the data connection, a data receiving unit (9) for receiving data to be sent to the electrical consumer, and a controller (10) for activating the supply of power to the electrical consumer via the data connection, if data to be sent to the electrical consumer have been received and the supply of power to the electrical consumer is deactivated. The electrical consumer itself does therefore not need to receive power from the apparatus, in order to stay alert to be able to react on data connection activity, thereby reducing the power consumption.

摘要: Aspects of an embodiment of the invention disclose a method, computer program product, and system for managing the energy efficiency of servers providing multi-class computing services with Quality of Service (QoS) assurance. Computing resources are clustered into at least three groups, where each group has a separate power management policy (PMP). A plurality of requests are received from a plurality of devices, and are sorted into at least three service classes based on the requests' QoS criteria. Each request is assigned to one of at least three service queues based on the request's service class, and each service group is processed by a group of computing resources. The power management policies are configured such that each group of computing resources may service requests at an energy efficient point while meeting the QoS criteria of the service class.

摘要: Methods, systems, and apparatus for monitoring and controlling electronic devices through the use of wired and wireless protocols. The systems and apparatuses may monitor their environment for signals from electronic devices. They may then take and disambiguate the signals that are received from the devices in their environment in order to identify said devices and associate control signals with them. The systems and apparatuses may then use communication means to send control signals to the identified electronic devices. Input and output transmission means for the systems and apparatuses may include, but are not limited to, powerline communication, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, and 6LoWPAN. Signal processing and device identification may be done onboard the device, or may be done at a remote location. Multiple apparatuses or systems may be connected together into networks, including mesh networks, in order to make for a more robust architecture.

摘要: Certain aspects involve power management subsystems for a distributed antenna system (“DAS”) or other telecommunication system. The power management subsystem can include a measurement module and an optimization module. The measurement module can monitor a utilization metric for a remote unit in the DAS or other telecommunication system. The power optimization module can determine whether the remote unit is underutilized based on the monitored utilization metric. The power optimization module can configure the remote unit for a low-power operation in response to determining that the remote unit is underutilized.
