摘要: A system and method of embossing media with an embossing template is provided. The system includes an elastomeric pad which deforms during pressing to spread the press forces over the embossing template. The system can also include a press and a platen plate assembly. The method includes pressing the media, the embossing template and the elastomeric embossing pad in a press to emboss the media with the embossing template. The elastomeric embossing pad deforms during pressing to spread the press forces over the embossing template to create detailed embossings. A wide variety of items can be used as the embossing template to produce a vast array of embossed creations.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for making a seamless apertured belt comprising the steps of: (a) providing a strip of material having two opposing ends and having a length at least equal to a finished belt length; (b) providing an aperture pattern having a length substantially equal to the finished belt length, the pattern including a plurality of two-dimensional geometrical shapes, the pattern having opposing end edges which can be tiled together; (c) removing a pre-determined portion of each end of the pattern and joining the pre-determined portions to one another along the opposing end edges to form a re-etch pattern; (d) forming apertures in the strip corresponding to the two-dimensional geometrical shapes in the pattern, the strip remaining free of apertures in regions near each end comprising fusion zones; (e) fusing the ends of the strip to one another such that the fusion zones form a common fusion zone; and (f) forming apertures in the common fusion zone corresponding to the re-etch pattern. In a preferred embodiment, the two-dimensional pattern is an amorphous two-dimensional pattern of interlocking two-dimensional geometrical shapes. The strip of material may comprise a material selected from the group consisting of metal, plastic, fabric, rubber, and combinations thereof.

摘要: An imprinting system having a print head with a plurality of type for transferring ink from an inked ribbon onto a substrate. A typeholder having an open ended cavity defined by side walls for retaining the plurality of type, wherein the typeholder is removably disposeable in a recess of the print head. At least one side wall portion of the cavity is removably coupleable to the typeholder for permitting insertion and removal of the plurality of type into and from the cavity. And a resilient member protrudes into the cavity from at least one of the side walls, wherein the resilient member biases the plurality of type toward one of other the side walls to prevent shifting of the type in the cavity. A resilient member urges a button protruding from an outer surface of the typeholder into contact with the recess of the print head, and a magnetized striker plate disposed on another outer surface of the typeholder cooperates to securely retain the typeholder in the recess of the print head.

摘要: An embossing system for the simultaneous positive and negative (i.e. in and out embossing of an indicia (10) in sheet material (20) has a top plate (40) and a bottom plate (50) each with respective positive and negative embossing plate portions (43/53, 44/54) which are aligned and complementary, so arranged that during the embossing step, the neutral portions (45,55) of the plates (40,50) do not apply pressure to the sheet material (20). By applying ink to one plate (40), or by placing an ink ribbon (80) between the sheet material (20) and one plate (40), the indicia (10) can be simultaneously inked and embossed.
