摘要： The flat foil printing press comprises an evacuable back-pressure plate (9), with suction regions (15k) which run in the sheet running direction (X) and which are next to embossing regions (16k), in which foil webs (6k) run. The suction regions are subdivided into several suction segments (10i) which are successive in the sheet running direction, and are each connected to a vacuum source (14) by way of a vacuum feed line (12i) via a vacuum switching element (13i). With the running-out of an embossed sheet (5), firstly all suction segments (10i) covered by the sheet are evacuated, and subsequently the suction segments which are no longer covered by the sheet are successively disconnected from the vacuum source. This results in an error-free separation of foil webs and sheets, for a greater picture quality and machine output.

摘要： A graphic arts die and support plate assembly is provided that is adapted to be mounted as a unit on the chase of a flat bed or rotary graphic arts press. The assembly includes a plurality of spaced individual dies fixedly mounted in predetermined relative relationship on a support plate member of the unit. Alignment holes in each die that register with orifices in the support plate member are adapted to receive temporary alignment pins thereby assuring correct positioning of the dies with respect to one another on the support plate member until the dies are affixed to the support plate member. Makeready and die lock-up time of the press is significantly decreased because all dies of the assembly may be preregistered with a design artwork before mounting of the die and support assembly on the press. A series of graphic arts die units are also provided that are adapted to be mounted as an assembly encompassing more than 180° of the circumference of a rotary press chase. The graphic arts die units have die support plate members that may be aligned with indicia on the press chase, and that have notch structure receiving a tool for facilitating alignment and spacing between adjacent die support plate members. Cutouts in the die support plate members permit manual selective shifting of a die relative to the die support plate member therefor using a tool received in a cutout and engageable with the die.

摘要： Apparatus and process for hot-stamping molded plastic containers in which the container is moved past a heated die having a platen with a printing die, the die being universally movable so that linear uniform pressure is exerted between a confronting container surface and die surface. As the container moves across the die surface, it is rotated so that foil which is pinched between the container and die is transferred onto the surface of the rotatable container. The uniform linear pressure between container and die, transfers foil to the accompaniment of rotation of the container so that defect-free lamination of foil is transferred onto the container surface to form decorative or alpha numeric information. The operation is continuous, with successively spaced containers moving into printing position relatively to the die, where the hot-stamping operation is repeated. Containers are automatically removed after printing, and successive containers supplied either manually or automatically.

摘要： A process and apparatus for hot stamp printing of hollow articles, particularly plastic containers, utilizing pigment coated films or foils. The apparatus uses a split die holder which contains one or more heated elements providing the indicia desired to be printed on the exterior surface of the plastic container. One-half of the die holder is fixedly positioned, and the second half of the die holder is adapted to be raised into position to enclose the hollow plastic container within the die cavity which has the same shape as the container being printed. A mechanical indexing source is utilized to move the bottle into the split die holder, and a single pneumatic source is utilized to close the split die holder around the bottle.
