Abstract:
A mechanical rate control device for mechanically dampening a telescoping hold open rod including an outer tube, an inner tube concentrically displaced within the outer tube. The inner tube includes a head portion and at least two friction pads surrounding the inner tube. Each of the at least two friction pads includes an internal surface which substantially complements an external surface of the inner tube.
Abstract:
A magnetic gate latch has a multiplicity of permanent magnets arranged on a pair of disks with half of the magnets in mutual attraction and half of the magnets in mutual repulsion. These magnetic forces are used to brake and close a gate or door. One of the disks is made axially movable with respect to the other so as to assume mutual repulsion in one position and mutual attraction in a second position. The movable disk is attached to a gate or door closing member and the other disk is attached to the closing structure post or jamb. Magnetic forces in the repulsion position are used in the invention to reverse the movable disk from a mutual repulsion position to a mutual attraction position.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a damping device for parts of furniture which are joined together by means of hinges and which can be pivoted in relation to each other. The housing contains a damping fluid in the cavity thereof and a resistance element which can be displaced relative to the damping fluid and connected to an actuating element protruding from the housing. During at least one part of the pivoting movement of both pieces of furniture, said actuating element is drivingly connected to the second piece of furniture and transfers the movement distributed to the second piece of furniture to the resistance element. The damping device is arranged in the region of at least one of the hinges which pivotally couples both pieces of furniture, and whereby either the damping housing and/or the actuating element engages with one of the mounting element of the corresponding hinges, at least during the damping process.
Abstract:
A damper device for retarding pivotal advancement of a hinged wall piece towards a hinging wall piece includes a tubular housing adapted to be mounted on one of the hinged and hinging wall pieces, a resisting seat with a resisting end, a position shifting mechanism disposed to couple the resisting seat to the housing such that the resisting seat is retainingly shiftable relative to the housing to permit movement of the resisting end, and a damper unit which has impacted and abutment ends and which is compressible such that, upon being pushed by an impact force, the impacted end is thrust towards the abutment end so as to acquire a damping force to counteract the impact force. The abutment end is engaged and moved with the resisting end for adjustment of the damping force.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an actuating mechanism for a swivel-mounted actuating arm, especially for driving a lid of an item of furniture. Said mechanism comprises a spring device including a biased actuating element and a translatory mechanism which translates the movement of the actuating element into a swiveling movement of the actuating arm. Said translatory mechanism comprises at least one adjusting device for varying the translation ratio between the movement of the actuating element and the swiveling movement of the actuating arm.
Abstract:
An obstruction detection device for a motor vehicle having a door assembly movably connected to a vehicle body is provided. The device controls the vehicle door's opening angle to prevent inadvertent contact with an object foreign to the vehicle, while providing the largest opening for vehicle ingress and egress. The obstruction detection device includes a controller that is operatively connected to at least one sensor configured to actively monitor and transmit signals to the controller indicative of the presence and corresponding proximity of the object relative to the door assembly. An actuator is operatively connected to and controlled by the controller. The actuator is configured to apply a selectively variable force that restricts the movement of the vehicle door assembly with respect to the vehicle body when the door is a predetermined distance from the object.
Abstract:
The hinge for wings or doors, in particular of electrical appliances, comprises a first box-shaped body, a second box-shaped body, a connecting element between the first and second bodies, and a damper cylinder for applying on the second body an action damping its movement towards the first body.
Abstract:
The invention is a fluidic damper which comprises a closed cylinder (100) containing a valve mechanism. The valve mechanism is attached to a piston rod (110), a portion of which (the piston rod) emerges through an opening in one end wall of the cylinder (100). The valve mechanism (90) comprises a disc (10) with an axle (15), a rotatable annular cover piece (20) and an annular turning piece (40). A spring (30) is disposed between the cover piece (20) and the turning piece (40).
Abstract:
The invention relates to an arrangement comprising a hinge, in particular a furniture hinge, and a damper (7). The damper (7) or damper housing (5), which supports the damper (7), is placed on the hinge by means of at least one securing device (11) which is elastic in places. The securing device (11) comprises at least one first supporting part (12) which is essentially rigid and at least one second supporting part (13) which is essentially springy or spring-loaded.
Abstract:
A push-out style window assembly including window hardware for frictionally retaining an open position of the window under typical loading conditions. A push-out style window assembly generally includes a friction hinge assembly including a track, a sash arm, a support arm, and a friction arm. The friction arm can include an adjustable and/or detachable slide enabling adjustment of a frictional resistance between the friction slider and the support arm. Using the friction arm, frictional resistance is provided so as to provide control both during opening of the window and in retaining the position of an open window.
