Abstract: A method of on-press developing a high-speed laser sensitive lithographic printing plate with ink and/or fountain solution is described. The printing member comprises on a substrate a photosensitive layer soluble or dispersible in ink and/or fountain solution and capable of hardening upon exposure to a laser. The plate is exposed with a laser and on-press developed with ink and/or fountain solution. At least a portion of the on-press development is performed with the plate under a yellow-red light or in substantial darkness, and at least a portion of the lithographic printing is performed under white light.

Abstract: A negative-working imageable element has an imageable layer that includes an infrared radiation absorbing dye that upon exposure to thermal irradiation, changes from colorless to a visible color or from one visible color to another visible color, providing a ΔE of at least 5 between the exposed and non-exposed regions of the imageable layer within 3 hours of its exposure to 300 mJ/cm2 at a laser power of 15 Watts. The imageable element can be imaged to provide images with improved contrast for print-out. The imageable layer includes a primary polymeric binder that has a backbone to which are attached pendant poly(alkylene oxide) side chains, cyano groups, or both, and is optionally present in the form of discrete particles.

Abstract: The present invention provides an image forming method comprising the steps of exposing imagewisely an image forming material having a photosensitive layer comprising an infrared absorbing agent, a polymerization initiator and a polymerizable compound on a substrate to overlapping infrared beams. The solubility of the photosensitive layer in an alkali developing solution reduces upon exposure to light of wavelengths in the range of 750 nm to 1400 nm. The exposed image forming material is developed, and the infrared beam diameter used in light exposure is 20 μm or less, and the overlapping coefficient is 0.8 or more.

Abstract: In the present invention, a coating liquid satisfies the liquid physical property conditions: (A) in the drying process, after the solid content concentration in the coating liquid is increased to 15% by mass or more by drying the coating film, or after the start of drying when the solid content concentration in the coating liquid is 15% by mass or more at the time of coating; (B) the shear viscosity of the coating liquid becomes 5 mPas or more for the shear rate of 103 sec−1 or less; (C) the value obtained through dividing by the average viscosity the first differential coefficient, the increase coefficient of the increase rate of the shear viscosity relative to the increase rate of the solid content concentration is 0.15 or more; and (D) the second differential coefficient, an additional increase coefficient of the increase coefficient relative to the solid content concentration is positive.
