Abstract:
A method for preparing a crosslinked polymer coated controlled porosity glass (CPG) particle is provided. The method involves mixing CPG particles in a solution comprising polyvinylbenzylchloride and a first solvent at a temperature below 10° C. A second solvent is added and a crosslinking agent is added to the mixture. The first solvent is removed rapidly within 1½ hours of addition of the crosslinking agent. The crosslinking reaction is permitted to proceed and the mixture is then cooled and treated to remove any remaining solvent. The resulting coated CPG particles are washed and dried. Also provided a polymer coated CPG particles using for loading ligand thereon.
Abstract:
Provided is an Sb—Te alloy sintered compact sputtering target having at least Sb or Te as its primary component, wherein surface roughness Ra is 0.4 μm or less, purity excluding gas components is 4N or more, content of gas components as impurities is 1500 ppm or less, and average crystal grain size is 50 μm or less. With this Sb—Te alloy sintered compact sputtering target, the density of defects having a maximum length of 10 μm or greater arising in a surface finish by machining is 80 or less in an 800 μm square. Thus, the Sb—Te alloy sputtering target structure can be uniformalized and refined, generation of cracks in the sintered target can be inhibited, and generation of arcing during sputtering can be inhibited. Further, surface ruggedness caused by sputter erosion can be reduced in order to obtain a high quality Sb—Te alloy sputtering target.
Abstract:
An isolated nucleic acid sequence of a mitotic checkpoint gene, chfr, encodes a Chfr protein having a Forkhead-associated domain and a Ring Finger. This protein is required for regulation of the transition of cells from prophase to metaphase during mitosis. The chfr nucleic acid and Chfr polypeptide are useful in diagnosing tumorigenic cells and in screening for drugs which can inhibit the activity of Chfr in a cancer cell, thereby rendering the cell more sensitive to additional anti-tumor therapies.
Abstract:
An electrolytic copper plating method characterized in employing phosphorous copper as the anode upon performing electrolytic copper plating, and performing electrolytic copper plating upon making the crystal grain size of the phosphorous copper anode 10 to 1500 μm when the anode current density during electrolysis is 3 A/dm2 or more, and making the grain size of the phosphorous copper anode 5 to 1500 μm when the anode current density during electrolysis is less than 3 A/dm2. The electrolytic copper plating method and phosphorous copper anode used in such electrolytic copper plating method is capable of suppressing the generation of particles such as sludge produced on the anode side within the plating bath, and is capable of preventing the adhesion of particles to a semiconductor wafer. A semiconductor wafer plated with the foregoing method and anode having low particle adhesion are provided.
Abstract:
A box culvert and gasket assembly is provided that enables fluid-tight bell-and spigot joints to be formed between abutting ends of box culverts. The joints according to the assembly of the present invention can remain fluid-tight up to at least 13 psi of water pressure. The gasket is preferably a one-piece, endless rubber gasket that is applied over the end of a spigot that is rectangular in end elevation. The corners of the rectangular spigot are rounded to enable the gasket to extend continuously over the corner without the need for 45° cuts and splices. Preferably, the gasket is made from a single elongate gasket piece that is cut to size and that has ends that are bonded together via a butt vulcanization technique. A storm drain and sewer assembly and a method of forming a fluid-tight bell-and spigot joint are also provided.
Abstract:
An endless papermaking press felt comprises a base and a batt layer intertwiningly integrated with the base. The batt layer comprises a wet paper web side layer and a machine side layer formed on an outer surface and inner surface of a base respectively, The base is manufactured from belt-shaped partial base bodies, which are connected to one another in side-by-side relationship. The press felt can be manufactured easily and at reduced cost.
Abstract:
The nucleic acid sequences of adeno-associated virus (AAV) serotype 1 are provided, as are vectors and host cells containing these sequences and functional fragments thereof. Also provided are methods of delivering genes via AAV-1 derived vectors.
Abstract:
A handrail for preventing dangers during walking and movements to standing or sitting positions, for correcting postures, and for simplifying walking movements of physically handicapped persons, persons with weak grip strength, and persons of low functional capacity caused by collagenosis or rheumatism. The handrail is an elongate handrail having a smooth curved line periphery. The pinky-engaging side of the handrail is protuberated in a circular shape and has a recess at a portion thereof where a fingertip of a person grasping the handrail engages a lower end vicinity position of the circular shape.
Abstract:
In a combination coating film transfer tool and writing implement, a reversible coating film transfer tool can be fitted to the writing implement in either of two ways: one in which the coating film extending past the transfer head is exposed for use, and the other in which the coating film is protected within a housing formed on the writing implement.
