Abstract: A system for providing reduced-pressure treatment to a moveable tissue site, such as a joint, includes a flexible dressing bolster. The flexible dressing bolster has a first side and a second, inward-facing side, and a plurality of flexion joints formed on the flexible dressing bolster. The system further includes a sealing subsystem for providing a fluid seal over the flexible dressing bolster and the patient's epidermis and a reduced-pressure subsystem for delivering a reduced pressure to the sealing subsystem. The sealing subsystem and reduced-pressure subsystem are operable to deliver a reduced pressure to the moveable tissue site. The flexible dressing bolster is operable to allow articulation or movement of the moveable tissue site. The sealing subsystem may include a drape with folds. Other systems, apparatuses, and methods are presented.

Abstract: A dressing or a tissue interface for treating a tissue site with negative pressure may comprise a fluid control layer, a base manifold, and a closure manifold layer. The fluid control layer may comprise a plurality of fluid restrictions, and the base manifold may be disposed adjacent to the fluid restrictions. The closure manifold may have perforations adjacent to the base manifold layer. Additionally, the base manifold layer may have a first density, and the closure manifold layer may have a second density, wherein the second density is less than the first density. The closure manifold may be configured to deform laterally at a second negative pressure that is less than the first negative pressure.

Abstract: Tissue dressing materials and associated methods of forming such dressing materials are disclosed. In one example embodiment, a dressing material may include a foam and a film formed on a first side of the foam. The film may be integrally-formed on the side of the foam. The film may include a plurality of apertures. A method of making the dressing material may include placing a pre-polymer mixture and water into a mold to create the dressing material comprising a foam and an integral film on at least one surface of the foam. The method may further include forming a plurality of openings in at least the integral film, with the openings being formed within the mold or subsequent to removal of the dressing material from the mold.

Abstract: A reduced-pressure system for treating a tissue site on a patient includes a distribution manifold that adheres to a tissue site to allow retention without external support. The distribution manifold includes a porous member and a tissue-fixation element. The tissue-fixation element maintains the porous member substantially adjacent to the tissue site while a sealing member is applied. In one instance, the tissue-fixation element is a soluble adhesive that partially covers either the tissue-facing side of the porous member or a tissue-facing side of a fluid-permeable substrate layer that is on the tissue-facing side of the porous member. Other systems, distributions manifolds, and methods are presented.

Abstract: In some examples, a dressing suitable for treating a tissue site may include a fluid management assembly configured to offload fluid extracted from the tissue site away from an articulation area at the tissue site. Other features may be associated with the dressing including, without limitation, a base layer, an adhesive, one or more wicking layers, and an absorbent layer. Other dressings, apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices related to removing fluids from a patient are provided. In one instance, fluid is removed from the patient and delivered to a canister using reduced pressure. Reduced pressure is supplied to the canister via a reduced-pressure delivery conduit that includes a moisture processing device and a hydrophobic filter. The moisture processing device condenses moisture from the air to prevent condensation from occluding the hydrophobic filter. The moisture processing devices includes an expanded volume and one or more liquid-impermeable, vapor-permeable membranes. The liquid-impermeable, vapor-permeable membrane allows vapor to egress the moisture processing device. Other systems, methods, and devices are presented.

Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site with negative pressure may comprise a first polymer film having a plurality of fluid restrictions, and a second polymer film comprising a plurality of standoffs disposed adjacent to the first polymer film. The first polymer film and the second polymer film may be substantially transparent to allow observation of the tissue site. In some embodiments, at least some of the standoffs may be offset from the fluid restrictions. The second polymer film may comprise fluid passages adjacent to the standoffs in some examples.

Abstract: This disclosure describes devices, systems, and methods related to a wound closure device. An example of a wound closure device includes a plurality of base members configured to adhere to a tissue site and one or more attachment members for use in combination to create mechanical tension on the edges of a wound to facilitate closure of the wound. The plurality of base members include a first base member that includes light switchable adhesive. The light switchable adhesive is configured to transition from a first state to a second state, and the light switchable adhesive has a first peel strength in the first state that is greater than a second peel strength of the light switchable in the second state. The one or more attachment members are configured to couple to two or more base members of the plurality of base members.

Abstract: A system for providing therapy to a tissue site is described. The system can include a light sensor, a motion sensor, and a controller. The controller can be communicatively coupled to the source of negative pressure, the light sensor, and the motion sensor. In some embodiments, the controller can be configured to receive a first signal from the light sensor indicative of ambient light, receive a second signal from the motion sensor indicative of activity, and activate alert based on the first signal and the second signal.
