Abstract:
Methods and systems for digitally enhancing an initial image of a material to which a plurality of stains were previously applied, that generally comprise: unmixing the image into a plurality of individual reconstructed images, each individual image corresponding to one of the stains; estimating a residual image corresponding to the difference between the original image and the reconstructed images; adjusting one or more components of the individual images; mixing the adjusted components using one or more estimated mixing coefficients; and adding the residual image to the mixed adjusted components to generate an enhanced image.
Abstract:
A process for recovering a metal chloride or mixed metal chloride from a solid waste material comprising recoverable metal containing constituents produced by lead, copper or zinc smelting and refining processes, said process comprising the steps of: (i) heating the solid waste material; (ii) treating the heated material of step (i) with a gaseous chloride to form a gaseous metal chloride containing product; and (iii) treating the gaseous metal chloride containing product of step (ii) to recover the metal chloride or mixed metal chloride. The metal chloride may be further treated to extract the metal itself.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel benzodiazepinone compounds of Formulae (I) wherein R1, R2, R4, R6, R7, R8, R9, and R10 are as defined herein. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds, methods of use of such compounds and compositions, and methods for preparing the compounds and compositions. The compounds are Group II metabotropic glutamate antagonists or allosteric modulators and are useful for the treatment of a variety of CNS disorders.
Abstract:
A data logging device tracks the operation of a vehicle or driver actions. The device includes a storage device, which may be removable or portable, having a first memory portion that may be read from and may be written to in a vehicle and a second memory portion that may be read from and may be written to in the vehicle. The second memory portion may retain data attributes associated with the data stored in the first removable storage device. A processor reads data from an automotive bus that transfers data from vehicle sensors to other automotive components. The processor writes data to the first memory portion and the second memory portion that reflect a level of risk or safety. A communication device links the storage device to a network of computers. The communication device may be accessible through software that allows a user to access files.
Abstract:
A method and system for providing three-dimensional preview of a finished document based on a key feature analysis. The document can be analyzed by a document analysis algorithm configured in association with a document visualization module in order to identify a number of key features associated with the document. A viewing script can be created with respect to the key features of the document in order to drive a visualization engine. A document-specific visual animation of the key features can be visually displayed based on the viewing script at a user interface in order to preview the finished document. A list of critical features with respect to the document can be selected and previewed by a user via a set of media controls displayed at the user interface.
Abstract:
An ankle-foot orthosis for resisting plantarflexion of a patient's foot, the orthosis comprising: a first resiliently flexible part (1) that comprises a first portion (3) and a second portion (5) set at an angle to said first portion (3), said first portion (3) being configured to lie against and along a portion of a patient's shin in use, and said second portion (5) being configured to extend partway along a dorsal aspect of the patient's foot in use, said first part (1) further comprising means (9) operable to secure said first portion (3) against the patient's shin; and a second resiliently flexible part (7) that is separate from but co-operates with said first part (1) in use, said second part (7) comprising a tubular body that is configured and arranged to fit around the patient's foot and to overlap at least part of the second portion (5) of said first part (1); wherein said first (1) and second parts (7) co-operate to provide a resistance to flexure suitable for correcting the plantarflexion experienced by the patient.
Abstract:
A heat exchanger 10 includes a conduit 12 for conveying cooling fluid relative to a body to be cooled. A heat transfer arrangement 62 is arranged in communication with an interior of the conduit 12, the heat transfer arrangement 62 and the conduit 12 together defining an assembly that is mountable adjacent the body to be cooled, convective heat exchange occurring, in use, due to movement of the cooling fluid relative to the body and to the heat transfer arrangement 62 of the assembly and radiant heat exchange occurring between the body and at least part of the heat transfer arrangement 62 of the assembly.
Abstract:
Methods for detecting multiple targets in a biological sample are provided. The methods includes contacting the sample with a first probe; physically binding the first probe to a first target; observing a first signal from the first probe; applying a chemical agent to modify the first signal; contacting the sample with a second probe; physically binding the second probe to a second target; and observing a second signal from the second probe. The methods disclosed herein also provide for multiple iterations of binding, observing, signal modification for deriving information about multiple targets in a single sample. An associated kit and device are also provided.
Abstract:
A duckbill pod (100) having an ejector mechanism, the duckbill pod (100) comprising a tray (10) for providing a transport surface for goods or material, a pusher plate (50) arranged substantially perpendicular to the tray (10), a drive arrangement for actuating the pusher plate (50) and reciprocate same between a mouth and a rear end of the duckbill pod (100), and a lifting plate (20) secured to the tray (10) for attaching the duckbill pod (100) to a loader.
Abstract:
One embodiment of the present invention relates to an avalanche safety system including an inflatable chamber, activation system, inflation system, diagnostic system and a harness. The inflatable chamber is a three-dimensionally, partially enclosed region having an inflated state and a compressed state. The inflated state may form a particular three dimensional shape configured to protect the user from burial and provide flotation during an avalanche. The activation system is configured to receive a user-triggered action to activate the system. The inflation system may include an air intake, battery, fan, and internal airway channel. The inflation system is configured to transmit ambient air into the inflatable chamber. The diagnostic system includes a at least one sensor configured to measure a parameter corresponding to the inflation system and a display configured to visually, audibly, and/or tactilely display the parameter.
