Abstract:
Methods for reducing the density of thermoplastic materials and the articles made therefrom having similar or improved mechanical properties to the solid or noncellular material. Also disclosed are improvements to foaming methods and the cellular structures of the foams made therefrom, and methods for altering the impact strength of solid or noncellular thermoplastic materials and the shaping of the materials into useful articles.
Abstract:
The present invention consists of an improved vertical continuous vacuum pan apparatus consisting of eight chambers (2) (instead of four or five) and a storage or buffer tank (27) at the top, within the existing conventional height, characterized in that each chamber has a bottom mounted mechanical circulator housed in an insulated pocket (28) in the vapour space segment (29) of each chamber and not in additional space above the chamber.

Abstract:
A system, method, and computer program product for approximating intrinsic capacitance of an integrated circuit (IC) block such as, for example, a compilable memory instance. Estimates of N-well capacitance, metal grid capacitance, and non-switching circuitry capacitance associated with the IC block are obtained. A total intrinsic capacitance of the IC block is then estimated based on the aforesaid constituent estimates.
Abstract:
Various methods, apparatuses and systems in which a memory uses a noise reduction circuit to sense groups of memory cells. The memory has a plurality of memory cells organized into groups of memory cells. The noise reduction circuit performs a sense operation on a first group of memory cells at the substantially the same time. The noise reduction circuit performs a sense operation on a second group of memory cells at substantially the same time. The noise reduction circuit has timing circuitry to sense the second group of memory cells after the sense of the first group initiates but prior to the completion of the sense operation on the first group of memory cells.

Abstract:
A method and system for efficiently handling multicast packets by aggregating VLAN (virtual local area network) context. In one embodiment, multicast registration information is received for a first client in one VLAN and then multicast registration information for the second client in a second VLAN. An aggregated list is created of the multicast registration information for the first client and the second client. In this embodiment, the aggregated list of the multicast registration information is forwarded for the first client and the second client to a second intermediate device. Then, when handling a multicast packet at the second intermediate device, the present invention accesses the aggregated list of the multicast registration information for the first client and the second client. As a result, the present invention allows the second intermediate device to perceive having only a single VLAN registered to receive the multicast packet.
Abstract:
A network intermediate system authenticates end systems attached to ports of the intermediate system. An authentication routine is called on a port each time an intermediate system detects any interruption in the physical connection with the port, including reboot of the end system connected to the port. Network data is not fully transmitted or received to any port that has not been authenticated. The invention distributes a user authentication to the point where an end system initially connects to a network, to prevent an authorized reception or transmission of network data that is not prevented under existing network login systems. The invention may be incorporated into an intermediate system, into intermediate system software, or into applications specific integrated circuits designed for use in an intermediate system. The invention may include components that interact specifically with installed components in an end system or elsewhere in a network.
Abstract:
The present embodiments relate to methods for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory conditions such as alcoholic liver disease (ALD). More specifically the present embodiments relate to the prevention and treatment of ALD through the administration of an Retinoic Acid Receptor (RAR) agonist. Some embodiments relate to use of tazarotene in the prevention and treatment of alcohol-induced liver injury, alcohol-related liver disease, fatty liver disease, hepatic steatosis, alcoholic hepatitis or alcoholic cirrhosis.
Abstract:
The invention disclosed herein relates to relates to foamed thermoplastic material objects and articles of manufacture having an internal layered cellular structure, as well as to methods of making the same. In one embodiment, the invention is directed to a multi-layer foamed polymeric article of manufacture, comprising: a non-laminated multi-layer thermoplastic material sheet, wherein the multi-layer thermoplastic material sheet has first and second discrete outer layers sandwiching a plurality of discrete inner foamed layers, and wherein the two outer layers and plurality discrete inner foamed layers are integral with one another. The thermoplastic material may be a semi-crystalline polymer such as, for example, PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PEEK (polyetheretherketone), PEN (polyethylene napthalate), PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), PLA (polyactide), polyhydroxy acid (PHA), thermoplastic urethane (TPU), or blends thereof. The two outer layers may be unfoamed skin layers having smooth outer surfaces, and the discrete inner foamed layers may be microcellular.
