Abstract:
An apparatus and method for partial adaptive transmission in a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system are provided. The method includes estimating a correlation matrix between Transmit (Tx) antennas and an average Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and generating a long-term precoding matrix composed of a predetermined number of dominant eigen dimensions of the correlation matrix by using the estimated correlation matrix and average SNR. The apparatus and method provide a new adaptive MIMO transmission method capable of reducing the feedback information overhead and maximizing performance.

Whereby, the present invention removes interference between neighbor cells in an efficient manner, maintains the performance thereof, and reduces complexity at the receiving end.
Abstract:
A multicarrier communication system is provided that divides a full frequency band into a plurality of sub-carrier frequency bands, generates a plurality of segments having a frequency-time domain occupied by a predetermined number of sub-frequency bands and a predetermined number of time intervals, and classifies a plurality of segment types according to each of the segments, for data transmission. A mobile subscriber (MS) measures a channel state, extracts channel state information corresponding to the channel state, estimates a segment type using the extracted channel state information, and if there is a need for a change in the segment type, the MS transmits a segment type change request message to a base station (BS). Upon receiving a segment type change grant message from the BS, the MS receives data in a segment type corresponding to the received message.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and method for managing resources in a mobile communication system. The method includes classifying an overall frequency band into a plurality of segment types defined in time and frequency domains by considering a channel condition between a mobile station and the base station and a QoS level required by the mobile station, if data to be transmitted is data to be transmitted in real time, allocating the data to real-time type segments in such a manner as to satisfy a minimum QoS level for the data, and when there are real-time data remaining after allocating the data, and non-real-time type segments for allocating data to be transmitted in non-real time, diverting and allocating the real-time data to the non-real-time type segments.

Abstract:
A method of initializing an equalizer of VSB DTV receiver and an equalizer using the same are provided. The method includes the steps of: obtaining a channel estimation value by estimating an impulse response of a channel from a received signal, initializing a backward filter by using the channel estimation value; generating an imaginary training signal by an arithmetical operation for the channel estimation value and a generated known training sequence; and initializing a forward filter by using the imaginary training signal.
Abstract:
A multicarrier communication system divides a full frequency band into a plurality of sub-carrier frequency bands, generates a plurality of segments having a frequency-time domain occupied by a predetermined number of sub-frequency bands and a predetermined number of time intervals, and classifies a plurality of segment types according to each of the segments, for data transmission. A mobile subscriber (MS) measures a channel state, extracts channel state information corresponding to the channel state, estimates a segment type using the extracted channel state information, and determines whether there is a need for a change in a segment type allocated to the MS itself. If there is a need for a change in the segment type, the MS transmits a segment type change request message to a base station (BS). Upon receiving a segment type change grant message from the BS in response to the segment type change request message, the MS receives data in a segment type corresponding to the received message.
Abstract:
In retransmitting data by a transmitter in a mobile communication system, a transmitter sets an allowed number-of-transmissions Ctx for an initial transmission and a retransmission of a second data unit based on a first data unit, fragments the first data unit into N second data units, and then initially-transmits or retransmits the N second data units to the receiver within the allowed number-of-transmissions Ctx. The receiver receives the second data units, detects normal receipt or abnormal receipt of the received second data units, and transmits a response to the transmitter according to the detection result.

Abstract:
A method of signal transmission based on differentially quantized channel information in a multi-antenna wireless communication system which can transmit signal to multiple mobile stations simultaneously through multiple transmit antennas includes a main codebook reporting step of each mobile station for quantizing channel correlation information (CCI) using a main-codebook and reporting an index of the main codebook, which corresponds to the quantized CCI, to a base station. A sub-codebook reporting step of each mobile station for quantizing the change of the CCI between the quantization interval using a sub-codebook and reporting an index of the sub-codebook, which corresponds to the quantized CCI change, to a base station. A multi-user eigen-beam transmission step of the base station for generating multiple eigen-beams using the index of the main-codebook or sub-codebook reported from mobile stations and transmitting them to multiple users simultaneously.
