Abstract: Embodiments include wireless authentication devices, systems, and methods. A wireless authentication system can include an active wireless communication device including a first memory, first processing circuitry, and a first antenna, the first processing circuitry to produce an identifier request for an identifier (ID) and cause the first antenna to transmit the identifier request, receive the ID in a response to the identifier request, identify, based on the ID and data in the first memory, a location of a second memory to access, and produce an access request for the identified location of the second memory and cause the first antenna to transmit the access request. The system can further include a passive wireless communication device comprising a second memory, second processing circuitry, a second antenna, and a power harvesting circuitry to convert electromagnetic power incident on the second antenna to electrical power for the second memory and the second processing circuitry, the second processing circuitry to produce the response to the identifier request, the response including the ID, and cause the second antenna to produce the response, receive the access request, retrieve data from or write data to the identified location of the second memory based on the access request, and cause the second antenna to transmit the response to the access request.

Abstract: In some examples, a system includes a self-retracting lifeline (SRL) comprising one or more electronic sensors, the one or more electronic sensors configured to generate data that is indicative of an operation of the SRL; and at least one computing device comprising one or more computer processors and a memory comprising instructions that when executed by the one or more computer processors cause the one or more computer processors to: receive the data that is indicative of the operation of the SRL; apply the data to a safety model that predicts a likelihood of an occurrence of a safety event associated with the SRL; and perform one or more operations based at least in part on the likelihood of the occurrence of the safety event.

Abstract: A fall protection device comprises an energy harvester to generate electrical power in response to movement of an elongate member and a circuit powered by the generated electrical power; an impact indicator connected to an elongate member, a controller connected to the elongate member and/or the impact indicator to generate a message in response to impact, and a transmitter connected to the controller to transmit the message; and/or a sensor connected to an elongate member and a controller connected to the sensor to generate a message in response to movement of the elongate member. The fall protection device could include a generator to generate electrical power, an energy storage capacitor to store the generated electrical power, a controller powered by the energy storage capacitor to generate a message in response to action, and a wireless transmitter powered by the energy storage capacitor to transmit the message.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sensing, measuring, or monitoring the temperature of an electrical transmission line of an electrical cable, are provided. A temperature sensitive inductor is disposed in thermal contact with the electrical transmission line. The temperature of the electrical transmission line can be sensed, measured, or monitored by measuring the inductance of the temperature sensitive inductor. Mechanisms and methods to eliminate, minimize, or account for the magnetic coupling between the current carried by the electrical transmission line and the temperature sensitive inductor are provided.
