摘要： A number of holes (3) are formed in the outer circumferential wall (2) of a tubular metallic pipe (1) at regulator intervals in both circumferential and axial directions. Each of the holes (3) consists of a polygonal opening (4) and raised pieces (5) formed by bending the material from the peripheral edge surrounding the opening (3). This pipe may be used as an insert pipe in injection molding an article such as a lead screw, an optical fiber ferrule or the like. The raised pieces reinforce the part of the pipe surrounding each hole, and enhances the bonding between the molding material and insert pipe.

摘要： A glass substrate for a magnetic disk contains a transition metal. The substrate, which is subjected to formation of zone texturing by irradiating the substrate with a laser beam, has a high mechanical strength even if it is not chemically strengthened. The glass substrate contains a transition metal element and has a transmittance of 10% or less for light in a wavelength range of 300 to 2000 nm. The surface roughness of an information recording surface portion thereof is 2.0 nm or less. In addition to a transition metal element, the glass substrate may include a rare earth metal element.

摘要： A magnetic recording medium having a high reliability of durability against frictional motion can be ensured even in a severe rubbing test, while a low noise characteristic important for achievement of high-density recording is kept. A first underlayer made of an alloy containing Co or Ni as a main component and containing Cr and Zr simultaneously is formed over a base, a second underlayer having a rough surface is formed on the first underlayer, a third underlayer made of an alloy containing Ni as a main component and containing Cr and Zr simultaneously is formed over the second underlayer, a fourth underlayer as a film for controlling crystalline orientation is formed on the third underlayer, a magnetic layer made of an alloy containing cobalt a main component is formed over the fourth underlayer, and a protective film containing carbon as a main component is formed on the magnetic layer.

摘要： In an EL device in which a blue light emitting material obtained by doping Ce as a luminescent center into CaGa.sub.X S.sub.Y host material is used for a luminescent layer, values of X and Y in the CaGa.sub.X S.sub.Y host material are set in ranges of 1.4.ltoreq.X.ltoreq.1.9, 2.9.ltoreq.Y.ltoreq.3.8. The blue light emitting material thus obtained has a new structure defined by the fact that an X-ray diffraction spectrum obtained by using Cu K.alpha. radiation as a X-ray source has at least one peak in diffraction angles of 13.5.+-.0.2 degree, 14.6.+-.0.2 degree and 25.7.+-.0.2 degree. The blue light emitting EL device has a luminance higher than that of a conventional EL device.
