    摘要: The present invention provides a process for hydrogenating an aldehyde. In one aspect, the invention is directed to a process of hydrogenating an aldehyde with a catalyst comprising a Group VIII metal, where the catalyst is complexed with carbon monoxide, at a temperature of at least 120° C. In another aspect, the invention is directed to a process of hydrogenating an aldehyde by contacting a feed comprising the aldehyde with a Group VIII metal catalyst and hydrogen in the presence of carbon monoxide at a temperature of at most 90° C. and subsequently contacting the feed and catalyst with hydrogen at a temperature of at least 120° C.

    摘要: A process for preparing 1,3-propanediol comprising the steps of: (a) preparing an aqueous mixture of 3-hydroxypropanal, (b) passing said aqueous 3-hydroxypropanal mixture to a hydrogenation zone wherein the hydrogenation zone is comprised of at least two stages wherein the hydrogenation in the first stage is carried out under hydrogenation conditions at a temperature in the range of about 50 to about 130° C. in the presence of a fixed bed or slurry hydrogenation catalyst and wherein an acidic co-catalyst is added or present in at least one of the later stages and the hydrogenation in said later stages is carried out under hydrogenation conditions at a higher temperature than that of the first hydrogenation stage and in the range of about 70 to about 155° C. to form an aqueous solution of 1,3-propanediol; and (c) recovering said 1,3-propanediol.

    摘要: An alkanediol such as 1,3-propanediol is prepared in a process which involves reacting an alkylene oxide with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in an essentially non-water-miscible solvent in the presence of a non-phosphine-ligated cobalt catalyst and a lipophilic ruthenium promoter to produce an intermediate product mixture containing a hydroxyalkanal in an amount less than 15 wt %; extracting the hydroxyalkanal from the intermediate product mixture into an aqueous liquid at a temperature less than about 100.degree. C. and separating the aqueous phase containing hydroxyalkanal from the organic phase containing cobalt catalyst; hydrogenating the hydroxyalkanal in the aqueous phase to an alkanediol; and recovering the alkanediol. The process enables the production of an alkanediol such as 1,3-propanediol in high yields and selectivity without the use of a phosphine ligand-modified cobalt catalyst.
