Abstract: A method of marking a glass-ceramic article includes the steps of: illuminating a glass-ceramic article with a beam from a laser, the glass-ceramic article having a thickness, T; and forming a mark in the glass-ceramic article while translating at least one of the glass-ceramic article or laser. The mark has a Contrast Ratio greater than 10. The step of forming a mark includes focusing the beam from the laser within the thickness, T, of the glass-ceramic article. The focusing of the beam results in alteration of a chemical property or a physical property of the glass-ceramic article. The mark produced by the beam from the laser extends through at least 50% of the thickness, T, of the glass-ceramic article. The glass-ceramic article may have a global temperature less than 100° C. during the marking process and does not fracture as the mark is formed.

Abstract: An article includes SiO2 from about 40 mol % to about 80 mol %, Al2O3 from about 1 mol % to about 20 mol %, B2O3 from about 3 mol % to about 50 mol %, WO3 plus MoO3 from about 1 mol % to about 18 mol % and at least one of: (i) Au from about 0.001 mol % to about 0.5 mol %, (ii) Ag from about 0.025 mol % to about 1.5 mol %, and (iii) Cu from about 0.03 mol % to about 1 mol %, and R2O from about 0 mol % to about 15 mol %. The R2O is one or more of Li2O, Na2O, K2O, Rb2O and Cs2O. R2O minus Al2O3 ranges from about −12 mol % to about 3.8 mol %.

Abstract: A laminate glass-ceramic article is provided that includes: a core glass layer having a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE); and a plurality of clad glass-ceramic layers, each having a CTE that is lower than or equal to the first CTE of the core glass layer. A first of the clad glass-ceramic layers is laminated to a first surface of core glass layer and a second of the clad glass-ceramic layers is laminated to a second surface of the core glass layer. Further, a total thickness of the plurality of clad glass-ceramic layers is from about 0.05 mm to about 0.5 mm. In addition, each of the glass-ceramic layers includes: an alumino-boro-silicate glass, 0 mol %≤MoO3≤15 mol %, and 0 mol %≤WO3≤15 mol %, the WO3 (mol %) plus the MoO3 (mol %) is from 0.7 mol % to 19 mol %.

The colored glass article may have a transmittance color coordinate in the CIELAB color space with an L* value of 55 to 96.5. The colored glass article may have a compressive stress profile with a depth of compression ≥ 0.15t a thickness t from 0.4 mm-5 mm, a compressive stress ≥ 200 MPa, and a central tension ≥ 60 MPa. The colored glass article may have a dielectric constant from 5.6to 6.4 over the frequency range from 10 GHz to 60 GHz.
