    摘要: A print mediator includes an interface module which serves as an interface for a document to be submitted for printing. The interface module communicates with an associated printing infrastructure for acquiring color rendering information for a print queue of the printing infrastructure. A reviewing application receives the acquired color rendering information and generates a visual representation of a document to be submitted for printing based thereon. Problems relating to color rendering by the printing infrastructure are detected and proposals for correction are presented to the submitter by the reviewing application. The user can review the proposals and accept or reject them as well as making annotations on the document. An analogous reviewing application is accessed by the print shop operator to review the document and submitter's annotations.

    摘要: In a printer which produces images as a function of the combination of cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y) and black (K) colorants on an output color print, responsive to device independent colorimetric description of an image, there is provided a method of calibrating the response of the printer to an image described in terms of colorimetric values, including the steps of first, gray balancing or linearizing colorant signals; secondly, adding black to an ideal device dependent description of a color image in accordance with a predetermined black addition process, and thirdly, providing a color correction transformation process, where the color correction transformation is accomplished via a method of interpolating printer responses from a look-up table indexing colorimetric descriptions of measured real responses, which take into account subsequent black addition and signal linearization.

    摘要: In a color printer calibration process, a color printer is driven with a set of printer signals selected to print a set of color samples throughout a printer gamut. A color measuring device measures the colorimetric response at each sample, to derive a mapping of printer signals to colorimetric responses of the printer. From the colorimetric responses, a preprocessing step is used to increase the number of measurements, using linear interpolation between local responses whereby the number of colorimetric responses to be mapped is increased. Then, a lookup table mapping colorimetric values to printer signals is generated, at regular intervals throughout the printer gamut, to produce a regular interval set of interpolated colorimetric values, derived from the measured colorimetric values and the linearly interpolated values using a distance-weighted averaging method. The look up table is stored in a color conversion memory for use in converting color definitions from a first color space to the printer color space.

    摘要: A method of calibrating the response of the printer to an image described in terms of colorimetric values, including the steps of: a) setting printer parameters; b) deriving a printer response characteristic by printing a calibration test from device dependent printer signals stored in a device memory, the calibration image including a plurality of color patches, some of which may be repeated at a plurality of locations on the test image at spatially disparate locations selected to keep local printer non-uniformities from affecting both locations; c) measuring printer response characteristics in device independent terms; d) generating a memory mapping of device independent colors to printer responses for subsequent use in printing images defined in device independent terms. The calibration target includes a large number of patches generated from combinations of printer colorants, and may repeat some of those patches either on the same sheet or on a plurality of sheets at positions on the sheet which are spatially distinct.
