摘要:
A method of color management for image marking devices utilizes an automated spot color editor having a control module accessing a graphical user interface. The method includes receiving image data input, in either device-dependent color space or device-independent color space, for a marking job. It is determined whether spot colors are present within the image data input and whether the CMYK values for each of the spot colors present within the image data input are included in the marking device spot color dictionary. Operational parameters for the automated spot color editor are initialized, with operational parameters including the desired performance criteria to be minimized by the automated spot color editor through selection of one or more matrices from a plurality of possible gain matrices to identify new CMYK values. The quality level of the new CMYK values is assessed and new CMYK values are transmitted to image printing device(s).

Methods and systems in an image processing device for controlling colors that are located external to a gamut are disclosed. A plurality of color values can be automatically provided as input to said image processing device, wherein said image processing device is under a control of a particular dimensional order, typically a three-dimensional order, but alternatively can be a two-dimensional order. Next, an operation can be performed dynamically determining which color value among the plurality of color values has attained a gamut limit. Thereafter, the particular dimensional order can be automatically reduced, thereby providing improved control for colors that are located external to said gamut. The plurality of color values analyzed is generally associated with three colors—cyan, magenta, and yellow.

A projection system includes a display apparatus comprising a plurality of tunable Fabry-Perot filters, each of the filters being configured for shifting between a state in which the filter transmits radiation in a bandwidth in the visible range of the electromagnetic spectrum and a state in which the filter transmits radiation in a bandwidth outside the visible range of the electromagnetic spectrum. An illuminator provides light to the plurality of Fabry-Perot filters. A control system receives image data and controls the display apparatus to project an image onto an associated display surface. The control system includes a modulator which provides wavelength modulation signals to the plurality of Fabry-Perot filters to modulate a color of pixels in the image and causes selected ones of the Fabry-Perot filters to shift into the bandwidth outside the visible range to modulate the brightness of pixels in the image.

A Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) based Fabry-Perot array may be used as a spectral filter to light sensing array, such as a CCD or CMOS photodetector. Applying different voltages to the electrodes of individual Fabry-Perot cells within the array allows a gradient in the Fabry-Perot air gap across the Fabry-Perot array. In this manner the MEMS Fabry-Perot array serves as a spectral filter of light passing through the Fabry-Perot array to the photodetector array. Embodiments of the disclosed sensor, used with LEDs that emit light outside the photosensitivity range of a photoreceptor belt, may be used to measure spectral information from toned patches placed upon a photoreceptor belt within a marking system. Other embodiments of the disclosed sensor, used with LEDs that emit light of any wavelength, may be used to measure spectral information from toned patches placed by a marking system upon a non-photosensitive output substrate, such as an intermediate belt or paper.

An optical apparatus may include a plurality of Fabry-Perot cavities and a controller. The plurality of Fabry-Perot cavities receives an incoming image. The controller controls a group of adjacent Fabry-Perot cavities of the plurality of Fabry-Perot cavities to sample spectral information from a pixel of the incoming image. The group maybe designated to the pixel. Sizes of the cavities within the group may differ from one another. The sizes of the cavities within the group may be fixed during the spectral information synthesis operation.

Small, fast, and inexpensive in-line spectrophotometers can produce in-line spectrums of a substrate before or after printing on the substrate. In-line spectrums are generally far less complete than a reference spectrum produced with a large, slow, and expensive reference spectrophotometer. An in-line spectrum can be mapped to a reference spectrum using a variety of known algorithms. However, the mapping is erroneous when the media substrate type changes. Reference transform matrices and in-line transform matrices can correct the erroneous mapping.

Spectrophotometer color measurement with a target illumination system and a reflected illumination sensing system where the target surface is variably spaced from said spectrophotometer. Color correction calibration information corresponding to color measurements for known different spacings of a test target surface from the spectrophotometer are obtained and stored. In use, the spacing of the actual target surface from the spectrophotometer is measured to provide a target spacing information signal. That signal is automatically combined with the stored color correction calibration information for the corresponding distances to provide at least partial correction of color measurement errors of the spectrophotometer for variable spacing of the target surface relative to the spectrophotometer even with low cost fixed focus optics. The spectrophotometer output can be so corrected by changing the target illumination, such as by LED pulse width changes, and/or by corrective adjustment of the measured reflectances.

Systems and method provide compensation for temperature induced peak wavelength shift of LEDs is color parameter measuring systems that use a model to reconstruct target color parameter values from the reflectance values measured when the target is illuminated by LEDs. Several models may be constructed, with each model being trained at a unique temperature, resulting in a set of models that span the temperature range of interest. In real-time, the LED based color parameter measuring system measures the temperature and interpolates between the models to estimate the appropriate model to use at the temperature of interest. The estimated model is then used to perform the color parameter value estimation.
