摘要: This invention relates to an apparatus and method for infusing fluids to and aspirating tissue from an intraosseous site. The apparatus is comprised of an infusion tube coupled to a housing assembly with a release mechanism that removes the force exerted on the infusion tube once it has penetrated the bone a predetermined depth. As the housing assembly is withdrawn, the infusion tube remains in the bone. The ball release mechanism and other aspects of the apparatus can be modified to yield different penetration depths.

摘要: A liquid crystalline light modulating pixel includes first and second cell wall structures and nematic liquid crystal disposed therebetween. The first and second cell wall structures cooperate with the liquid crystal to form four liquid crystal domains within the pixel. The liquid crystal in each of the domains exhibits a twisted nematic liquid crystal structure and the orientation of the liquid crystal director of the liquid crystal adjacent one of the cell wall structures in at least two domains is different.

摘要: An apparatus and method for combining NIR spectography with an implement including a combine or a chopper for measuring major constituents of harvested products in real time includes a monochromator or other sensor having no moving optical parts. The monochromator includes a fixed diffraction grating and a photodiode collector comprised of a plurality of photodiodes. A radiation source irradiates a product sample and the reflected radiation is transmitted to the diffraction grating. By analyzing the intensities and wavelengths of the reflected radiation at the photodiode collector, the presence and amount of major constituents of the harvested product can be determined. The present invention may be used on or with a research combine or chopper along with the conventional instrumentation which measures the weight, moisture, and volume of products harvested in a test plot.

摘要: A process which provides electronic access to pre-paid funds for cash or payment for goods and services. A card is issued to a customer with a value selectable by the customer. The card has a magnetic stripe with an encoded card number including a bank identification number (BIN) and an account number. The central card processor establishes a zero balance database including the card numbers, but with blank fields for the customer data and the value of the account. When a customer purchases a card, the sales agent transmits to the central database computer which fills in the blanks in the database, activating the account, and transmits an acknowledgment signal back to the sales agent. The customer can immediately use the card in ATM or other remote terminals to acquire cash or purchase goods and services. The customer inputs a PIN number which is provided with the card, or a customer selected alternative PIN number.

摘要: A process for thermally and catalytically upgrading a heavy feed in a single riser reactor FCC unit is disclosed. A heavy feed is cracked in the base of the riser at higher than normal cracking temperatures for at least 1.0 seconds of vapor residence time, then quenched. Quenching with large amounts of quench, preferably downstream of the mid point of the riser, increases conversion as compared to use of the same amount of quench within one second. Small amounts of quench, near the riser outlet, crack heavy feed roughly as well as large amounts of quench, near the base of the riser. High velocity, atomizing quench nozzles reduce riser pressure and/or catalyst slip in downstream portions of the riser, further increasing gasoline selectivity and reducing coke yields.

摘要: A dry, regenerable solid oxide process directed to convert SO.sub.x from the flue gas stream from a power plant, a coal or oil-fired plant or process heat furnace, or an FCC regenerator to elemental sulfur without using a Claus unit, a hydrogen plant, a regeneration gas separation system, or a hydrogenation section. This dry, regenerable solid oxide process is also effective on Claus plant tail-gas. This process uses solid oxides, such as, for example, magnesium aluminates or spinels to remove sulfur oxides from flue gas streams. The solid oxide is then regenerated by a reducing gas to release the sulfur compounds contained on the solid oxide to produce a gas stream comprising hydrogen sulfide, sulfur oxides and elemental sulfur. The elemental sulfur is then condensed and recovered as a product and the resulting gas stream may be recycled to be reprocessed over the solid oxide.
