Abstract:
According to various embodiments, a DC/DC conversion system is disclosed. The DC/DC conversion system includes a boost converter coupled to a plurality of parallel buck converters. The boost converter and plurality of buck converters each include an inductor, where the inductors are magnetically coupled to each other. The DC/DC conversion system further includes a control system configured to control the boost converter and plurality of buck converters such that combined duty cycles of the plurality of buck converters are about equal to a duty cycle of the boost converter and the duty cycles of the plurality of buck converters are modulated out of phase.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing an inductor core includes controlling a flow of magnetic material and a flow of binder material to a nozzle such that the flow magnetic material merges with the flow of binder material at a focal point of a preheater, preheating the magnetic material and the binder material by energizing the preheater, mixing the magnetic material and the binder material according to a ratio based on a magnetic permeability distribution of the inductor core, and depositing the magnetic material and the binder material on a surface to form the inductor core having three layers with recessed patterns defined between the layers for receiving a coil.
Abstract:
A core includes a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. The first layer has a first surface, a second surface, and a first recessed pattern extending from the second surface of the first layer toward the first surface of the first layer. The second layer has a third surface, a fourth surface, a second recessed pattern extending from the third surface of the second layer toward the fourth surface of the second layer, and a third recessed pattern extending from the fourth surface of the second layer toward the third surface of the second layer. The third layer has a fifth surface, a sixth surface, and a fourth recessed pattern extending from the fifth surface of the third layer toward the sixth surface of the third layer. The second layer is disposed between the first and third layers such that the second surface of the first layer faces the third surface of the second layer and the fourth surface of the second layer faces the fifth surface of the third layer. The first and second recessed patterns correspond to one another and are configured to receive a coil. The first, second, and third layers have non-uniform magnetic permeabilities.
Abstract:
A power factor controller (PFC) for an electrical load such as LED lighting includes a power factor correcting converter for generating a sinusoidal input current. The PFC further includes a programmable controller for estimating a phase shifted multiplier. A current regulator generates a desired PFC current in response to an input voltage, an output load and the phase shifted and subsequently blanked multiplier. The electrical load operates in response to the sinusoidal input current based at least partially on the desired PFC current.
Abstract:
An electronic driver is provided. The electronic driver includes a power converter including an output terminal and configured to generate a converter output power based on a first switching frequency of the power converter. The electronic driver also includes a first controller operatively coupled to the power converter and configured to control the first switching frequency of the power converter. The electronic driver further includes a visible light communication adapter operatively coupled to the output terminal of the power converter and configured to alter the converter output power to perform visible light communication.
