Abstract: Systems and methods of communicating using asymmetric polar codes are provided which overcome the codeword length constraints of systems and methods of communicating that use traditional polar codes. Used herein, asymmetric polar codes refers to a polarizing linear block code of any arbitrary length that is constructed by connecting together constituent polar codes of unequal length. Asymmetric polar codes may be known by other names. In comparison to conventional solutions for variable codeword length, asymmetric polar codes may provide more flexibility, improved performance, and/or reduced complexity of decoding, encoding, or code design. The system and method provide a flexible, universal, and well-defined coding scheme and to provide sound bit-error correction performance and low decoding latency (compared with current length-compatible methods which can be used with current hardware designs). For the most part, the provided embodiments can be implemented with nearly all available current encoding/decoding polar code techniques.

Abstract: Embodiment techniques map parity bits to sub-channels based on their row weights. In one example, an embodiment technique includes allocating, from a set of sub-channels, one or more sub-channels for one or more parity bits based on row weights for sub-channels in a subset of sub-channels within the set of sub-channels, mapping information bits to remaining sub-channels in the set of sub-channels based on a reliability of the remaining sub-channels without mapping any of the information bits to the one or more sub-channels allocated for the one or more parity bits, polar encoding the information bits and the one or more parity bits based on at least the mapping of the information bits to the remaining sub-channels to obtain encoded bits, and transmitting the encoded bits to another device.

Abstract: A system and method of non-orthogonal multiple access (NoMA) transmission using a configurable NoMA scheme is provided. A NoMA scheme implemented by the system and method is configurable through one or more NoMA configuration inputs that configure one or more of the bit level processor, the modulation block, the phase and amplitude adjustment block and the symbol to resource element mapper. A multiple access (MA) signature produced by the apparatus once configured for the particular NoMA scheme is selectable through one or more MA signature inputs.

Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide a method for encoding data in a wireless communication network. A communication device obtains an information bit sequence of a bit length K and a code length M. When M is greater than or equal to a first threshold and K is greater than or equal to a second threshold, the device divides the information bit sequence into p subsequences that are of an equal length K1. Then the device encodes each of the p subsequence to obtain p encoded subsequences. The device rate-matches each of the p encoded subsequences to obtain p rate matched subsequences, concatenates the p rate matched subsequences to obtain the output sequence of the code length M, then outputs the output sequence.

Abstract: Aspects of this disclosure provide a technique for implementing polar encoding with incremental redundancy HARQ re-transmission. In particular, a transmitter encodes a message using different polar codes to obtain a first codeword and a second codeword that is twice the length of the first codeword, and transmit the first codeword as an original transmission, and the second half of the second codeword as a re-transmission without transmitting the first half of the second codeword. Information bits that are common to both the first codeword and the second half of the second codeword is mapped to more-reliable bit-locations in the second half of the second codeword. Decoded bit values for the common information in the original transmission and retransmission is compared by the receiver to perform a parity check.

Abstract: This application provides a method for communicating a modulation and coding scheme (MCS). A terminal device obtains a modulation order, a code rate, or a spectral efficiency, determines an index of a reference MCS from a mapping table based on the obtained modulation order, code rate, or spectral efficiency, and reports the index of the reference MCS to a network device. The mapping table includes one or more mapping relationships between an MCS index and a modulation order, a code rate, or a spectral efficiency. The terminal device may process uplink or downlink data based on the determined MCS, thereby improving data transmission reliability.
