摘要: In order to appropriately manage configuration information acquired from a storage system for the purpose of performance management, etc., an information processing apparatus managing the configuration information, i.e., information indicative of a configuration of resources making up the storage system in a database, detects a change in setting of an I/O path to extract resources making up an invalidated I/O path, which is the I/O path subject to the change, as monitoring object resources, acquires performance information that is information indicative of operation statuses of the monitoring object resources from the storage system, judges whether the performance information of the monitoring object resource matches a preset policy, determines a timing to make invalidated configuration information, which is the configuration information related to the invalidated I/O path, deletable from the storage device based on the result of the judgement, and deletes the invalidated configuration information from the database when the determined timing comes.

摘要: To solve a problem in that reliable detection of a performance problem caused by a configuration change needs detailed performance information, which is costly to keep and analyze, a management computer which manages a computer system having a host computer and a storage system is provided. The management computer is configured to: store performance information obtained from resources that belong to paths at first time intervals until a predetermined length of time elapses since the detection of an addition or removal of the resources to the paths; store performance information obtained from the resources that belong to the paths at second time intervals, which are longer than the first time intervals, without storing performance information obtained from the resources that belong to the paths at the first time intervals after the predetermined length of time elapses since the detection of the addition or removal of the resources to the paths.

摘要: Provided is a computer system including a host computer, a storage system, and a management computer, in which the storage system receives data I/O request to virtual logical volumes and data I/O request to one or more real logical volumes, each of the virtual logical volumes is allocated to one of one or more pools, storage areas of physical storage systems are allocated to all storage areas defined as the pools, and when a performance problem has occurred in one of the virtual logical volumes, the management computer selects the one of the virtual logical volumes, and selects a pool other than the pool to which the selected virtual logical volume is allocated and the real logical volumes as a migration destination of the selected virtual logical volume, to thereby prevent a performance problem from being caused by interference among the virtual logical volumes sharing the pool.

摘要: Provided is a method of controlling a computer system which includes a host computer and one or more storage systems coupled to the host computer via a network, wherein the first processor executes an application job which executes data I/O in a logical storage area; the second processor executes a management job which executes the data I/O in the logical storage area; the method comprising: judging whether at lest one of resources of the computer system used for the data I/O of the application job is also used for the data I/O of the executed management job when performance of the application job drops below a predetermined threshold; and displaying information indicating the executed management job when it is judged that at least one of the resources used for the data I/O of the application job is also used for the data I/O of the executed management job.

摘要: To provide a method of collecting and storing storage network performance information that allows tracking of the cause of application performance deterioration. It is automatically judged whether or not performance information collected, to be stored, from components of a storage network including a host server and a storage system has a possibility of ever being used in a search for the cause of application performance deterioration, and the degree of importance of performance information is determined based on the result of the judgment. The preservation period of performance information that is high in degree of importance is set long, while a short preservation period is set to performance information of low degree of importance. After the preservation period set to the respective performance information expires, the corresponding performance information is deleted.

摘要: In an inference machine having a knowledge set portion which stores therein a set of knowledge items such as rules, and an inference portion which interprets the rules for execution; priority level information items which set precedence degrees among the rules within the rule set are stored in a plurality of series with respect to standpoints of users, one series which meets the standpoint of a particular user is selected from among the plurality of stored series of priority level information items, and the rule of the highest precedence degree is selected on the basis of the selected series of priority level information items, with the result that the rule conforming to the standpoint of the particular user is selected and executed. On the other hand, a plurality of optimum solutions for the respective standpoints can also be found in such a way that the different series of priority level information items are successively selected, whereupon the inference portion finds the solutions for the respective selected series of priority level information items.
