    Abstract: An illumination device according to one embodiment includes a backlight and a display panel configured to selectively transmit light from the backlight. The backlight includes a light source, a main light guide portion formed in the shape of a flat plate and an approach portion. The main light guide portion includes a first surface facing the display panel, and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The approach portion includes a third surface facing the second surface, a fourth surface opposite to the third surface, a first end portion facing the light source, and a second end portion opposite to the first end portion, and connected to the main light guide portion, the fourth surface being inclined with respect to the third surface.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a reflective type liquid crystal display device provided can suppress light leakage into a thin film transistor due to entry of extraneous light. An array substrate includes a glass substrate, a plurality of thin film transistors, a plurality of pixel electrodes, and a metal film. The plurality of thin film transistors are provided to the glass substrate. The plurality of pixel electrodes are spaced apart from each other and driven by the thin film transistors. The plurality of pixel electrodes reflect extraneous light entering the reflective type display device from a counter substrate side. The metal film is provided between a gap between the pixel electrodes and each of the thin film transistors.
