Abstract:
Improved process of metathesis of olefins by contact of one or more olefins with a catalyst comprising a tungsten complex with two phenoxy groups, carrying substituents and four other ligands, the complex carrying as coordination groups a halogen atom, an alkyl radical and a carbene. The catalyst preferably is of the formula ##STR1## where X is halogen, R is hydrocarbon or an electronegative group or atom, R.sup.1 is alkyl and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are individually hydrogen or alkyl groups.
Abstract:
Improved catalyst for the metathesis of olefins comprising a compound of W with a halogen and with a phenoxy group which can carry substituents. It contains 4 halogen atoms and 2 phenoxy groups per atom of W. Preferably, the phenoxy group is halogenated. This catalyst allows the more rapid carrying out of various types of metathesis reactions, when it is used as a co-catalyst in conjunction with organo-metallic compounds, particularly Al or Sn. Among others, it allows the economical preparation of pheromones. It is practically insensitive to traces of water and oxygen.
Abstract:
An improved indirect-acting powder-actuated fastening tool is provided wherein the power level may be continuously varied and wherein the tool may be discharged only if the muzzle is pressed against the work surface, with the tool substantially perpendicular thereto. A barrel and a barrel breech are adjustably screwed together and telescopically carried by a slide assembly which, in turn, is telescopically carried by the tool receiver. The slide assembly and the barrel are operably connected for corotation, whereby rotation of the slide assembly produces a joint axial displacement, of the barrel and the slide assembly, relative to the barrel breech, to vary the initial volume. The axial relation between the slide assembly and the barrel is thus preserved during power level adjustment and this constant relationship is utilized to effect angle-fire control by means of a firing mechanism operable solely when the slidably mounted barrel and barrel breech are urged to the battery position against the bias of a spring.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a self-closing propellant charge package adapted for use with a gravity operated loading device of a power-actuated tool. The package comprises a tubular body having one end at least partially closed, the other end being open. A portion of the body adjacent the open end is deformed for holding the charges, it being possible to cancel the deformation of this portion to allow passage for the charges. More specifically, at least one cut-out is provided in the deformable portion, the portion being maintained in a deformed state by a resilient ring or other means.
Abstract:
A power-actuated tool for fastening insulation plates to ingot mold surfaces. The tool includes a cocking foot which reciprocates with respect to the tool breech. Reciprocation of the cocking foot cocks the firing pin and opens and closes an ammunition loading window. A double sear is provided so that the tool cannot be air-fired.
