    摘要: A display apparatus is disclosed. A display panel includes a plurality of display pixels arranged at intersections of a plurality of scanning lines and a plurality of data lines. A scanning drive unit sequentially applies a scanning signal to each of the scanning lines and sets the corresponding display pixels to a selection state. A data drive unit generates a gradation signal corresponding to the display data and supplies the gradation signal to the display pixels. A power source drive unit supplies to the display pixels a drive voltage for controlling a drive state of each of the display pixels. A drive control unit controls the power source drive unit to operate to set the display pixels to a non-display operation state during a non-display period, and controls the scanning drive unit to operate to set the display pixels to the selection state during the non-display period.

    摘要: A display device includes a pixel array in which a plurality of display pixels are arranged in a two-dimensional manner which is divided into a plurality of column groups composed of the display pixels of a predetermined number of columns, a signal drive circuit which produces a signal current based on display data, and sequentially outputs, in time series via a common terminals, the signal current that corresponds to the display pixels for one row of the pixel array for each of signal currents that correspond to each of the column groups, and a current latch circuit which sequentially captures and holds the signal currents output from the signal drive circuit for one row of the pixel array, generates gradation currents and simultaneously supplies the gradation currents to the plurality of data lines, wherein the pixel array and the current latch circuit are formed on a display panel substrate.

    摘要: A predetermined voltage is supplied to a voltage supply line connected in common to respective current paths of driving elements of each of a plurality of display pixels. Adjustment voltages based on a predetermined unit voltage are sequentially applied to a plurality of data lines connected to the display pixels. Specific values corresponding to element characteristics of the respective driving elements of the display pixels are sequentially detected based on a value of a detection value that is a potential difference between a data line and the voltage supply line or a value of a current flowing into the voltage supply line. Correction gradation voltages are generated for each pixel by correcting a gradation voltage having a voltage value corresponding to display data for the pixel based on the specific value for the pixel, so as to compensate for characteristic fluctuation of the driving element of the pixel.

    摘要: Placed between a pair of substrates is a liquid crystal which has a first ferroelectric phase where liquid crystal molecules are aligned substantially in a first direction in accordance with an applied voltage, a second ferroelectric phase where the liquid crystal molecules are aligned substantially in a second direction in accordance with an applied voltage, and an intermediate alignment state where the director of the liquid crystal is directed between the first and second directions. The liquid crystal in use is selected so that the first and second directions intersect each other at an angle of greater than 45.degree.. The transmission axis of one of a pair of polarization plates is set inclined to an intermediate direction between the first and second directions by 22.5.degree., and the optical axis of the other polarization plate is set perpendicular to the transmission axis of the former polarization plate. A voltage of a range which does not set the liquid crystal in a ferroelectric phase and can provide maximum and minimum transmittances is applied between electrodes which are so arranged as to sandwich a layer of the liquid crystal.

    摘要: An antiferroelectric liquid crystal display device includes: an active matrix type LC cell and an antiferroelectric liquid crystal sealed in the cell. Liquid crystal molecules aligned to one of a first aligning direction and a second aligning direction are aligned in the other aligning direction in accordance with an applied voltage, thus forming a plurality of regions of different alignment states in a range shorter than a wavelength of light in a visible light band, and directions of said directors are changed in accordance with a ratio of regions in a first alignment state to regions in a second alignment state. The liquid crystal molecules may behave along a predetermined cone by a phase transition precursor in accordance with an applied voltage. The liquid crystal molecules may behave so as to be inclined in a direction perpendicular to an electric field, in accordance with an applied voltage.

    摘要: In a TFT liquid crystal display device using a DHF liquid crystal, the DHF liquid crystal is alienable to a first alignment state in which liquid crystal molecules are substantially aligned to a first direction, to a second alignment state in which the liquid crystal molecules are substantially aligned to a second direction and to an arbitrary intermediate alignment state between the first and second alignment states, in accordance with a voltage applied between the pixel electrodes and the opposing electrode. One of a pair of polarization plates has an optical axis set in substantially an intermediate direction between the first and second directions. The optical axis of the other polarization plate is set perpendicular to the optical axis of the former polarization plate. A pulse having a voltage whose absolute value corresponds to a display gradation and whose polarity changes frame by frame is applied to the DHF liquid crystal for each pixel in the selection period of that pixel. A single pulse is applied for a single image signal.
