A process for easily and industrially advantageously producing a high-purity 2-aralkyl-3-acetylthiopropionic acid and a high-purity 2-aralkylpropionic acid having a leaving group in the 3-position from easily available compounds. A 2-aralkyl-1-propanol having a sulfonyloxy group or halogen atom in the 3-position is oxidized with a permanganate under acidic conditions to produce a high-purity 2-aralkylporpionic acid having sulfonyloxy or the halogen in the 3-position. This acid is reacted with a thioacetate in the presence of water to produce a high-purity 2-aralkyl-3-acetylthiopropionic acid.

An electron tube such as a fluorescent display tube is provided. Auxiliary linear support members (e.g. linear spacers and linear dampers), which subsidiarily support liner members (e.g. cathode filaments and wire grids), are bonded on a substrate, using ultrasonic welding (without using an adhesive agent (e.g. fritted glass or a conductive paste)). A metal layer (e.g. a thin or thick aluminum film) is formed over the glass substrate. The end of the coil of a cathode filament is securely bonded to the metal layer. A spacer of a metal wire (e.g. aluminum) is ultrasonic welded to the metal layer. The welding is performed with the wedge tool of an ultrasonic welder placed at the position where the spacer is in contact with the cathode filament. A U-shaped recess is left at the welded spot. This recess prevents the cathode filament from being displaced. If necessary, the metal layer is formed over the substrate and the damper of a metal wire (e.g. aluminum) is disposed to prevent the vibration of the cathode filament.

The ejector pin has a bar portion for extruding a molded component and a sleeve portion slidably housing the bar portion. The end of the bar portion faces the cavity from the opening at the end of the guide portion. A housing room is defined by the step portion at the lower end of the sleeve portion. A strain producing portion with an U-shaped cross section fixed on the base end of the bar portion is disposed inside the housing room. A strain sensor is attached on the lower surface of the beam of the strain producing portion. Only the area of the end of the bar portion is related to the pressure detection. When the pressure of a resin is applied on the end of the bar portion, the downward load on the bar portion bends the beam down. The strain sensor outputs a signal corresponding to the load and the pressure is worked out. By separately preparing plural kinds of sleeve portions with different outer diameters, the thickness of an ejector pin can be arbitrarily set according to conditions.

The decreased air pressure determination means is so configured as to determine a tire having a decreased air pressure based on the estimated resonance frequency of the tire torsional direction.
