摘要： A storage and reproducing apparatus includes a signal processing block, a memory, a reproduction block, an operation block, and a control block. The signal processing block converts a sound signal, into a digital signal. The memory stores a digital signal outputted the signal processing block and management data of the digital signal. The reproduction block at least converts a digital signal read out from the memory into an audible sound output. The operation block includes a rotary operation block provided on the apparatus main body in such a manner that the rotary operation block can be rotated around a rotation center and shifted along a plane which almost orthogonally intersects the rotation center. The control block, according to an input from the operation block, writes the digital signal and the management data into the memory and reads out the digital signal and the management data stored in the memory. The control block, according to the rotation direction of the rotary operation block, reads out the management data from the memory. When the rotary operation block is shifted along the plane, the control block reads out a digital signal from the memory according to a management data which is being read out from the memory.

The recording/reproducing apparatus has first and second storage units in which data and management data are stored. The equipment, to which is connected the recording/reproducing apparatus, has a third storage unit in which are stored the data and the management data. It is detected whether the equipment to be connected to the recording/reproducing apparatus has been connected to the recording/reproducing apparatus. If such connection is detected, the management data are read out from the first and second storage units. Based on the read-out management data and the management data stored in the third storage unit of the equipment, connected to the recording/reproducing apparatus, new management data, supervising the first to third storage units as one storage unit, is generated. The writing and readout for the plural storage units are controlled based on the generated new management data.

摘要： Provided are an image forming apparatus and method of controlling same in which when toner replenishment from a toner accommodating unit has been performed satisfactorily, a no-toner indication can be cancelled without taking more time than necessary, and in which the status of the toner accommodating unit can be reported to the user earlier even if a toner accommodating unit that has no toner or that has malfunctioned has been installed. Whether a toner accommodating unit (5) has toner is determined based upon a detection signal from a toner density sensor (46) that detects the toner density of a developer in a developing unit (4). If it is determined that there is no toner in the toner accommodating unit (5) and the toner accommodating unit (5) is replaced, this is detected and a toner density restoration sequence for restoring the density of toner in the developing unit (4) is executed. The toner density restoration sequence is controlled based upon a predetermined target value relating to toner density restoration and a toner density restoration decision value (V1) that is different from said predetermined target value.
