Abstract:
A land-based or mobile phone and methods are provided for receiving inbound communications as either voice or text, and then based on the user's configuration settings, the inbound communication is provided to the user as it was received or is automatically converted into a format that is desired by the user. The phone also takes voice or text that is input by the user of the phone and converts the user's input to either voice or text based on the configuration settings stored in the user's contact list or otherwise. The outbound communication is configured according to how the intended recipient wants to receive a communication based on the configuration settings stored in the user's contact list or otherwise. The phone includes a controller that determines how the phone will handle and process inbound and outbound communications. The controller includes a speech recognition engine.
Abstract:
A system and methods through which incoming calls to and/or outgoing calls from a telephone can be controlled. The present invention utilizes an authorized caller list to determine whether an incoming call should be connected, and a similar list to determine whether an outgoing call should be connected. The present invention can also facilitate the use of new telephone user interfaces, including by iterating through telephone numbers associated with a contact, until communications with the contact are established.
Abstract:
An apparatus for removing portions of bone marrow from a bone is provided. The apparatus includes a housing and a hollow drive shaft operable to engage a gear assembly. The hollow drive shaft includes a first end operable to penetrate the bone and a second end operable to allow retrieval of portions of bone and bone marrow. The apparatus also includes a removable trocar. The removable trocar includes an inner channel operable to convey portions of bone and bone marrow. The gear assembly is able to engage and rotate the hollow drive shaft. A motor operable to drive the hollow drive shaft into the bone marrow by rotation of the hollow drive shaft and a power supply and associated circuitry operable to power the motor are also included.

Abstract:
A golf putter head includes a body having a ball-striking face and an upper surface defined thereupon. First and second indicia are defined upon the upper surface. The indicia lie in a line which is generally perpendicular to the striking face. The first indicium is closer to the striking face than is the second indicium, and the indicia are spaced from one another and from the striking face so that when a golf ball bearing an indicium having a size generally similar to the size of the first indicium is disposed at a preselected distance from the striking face, and with its indicium uppermost, the first indicium will be equally spaced from the second indicium and from the indicium on the golf ball.
Abstract:
This invention relates to foam insulating products, particularly extruded polystyrene foam, with increasing the cell orientation and reducing cell anisotropic ratio, as well as the process method for making the products thereof for improving the insulating properties and for reducing the manufacturing cost of the foam products. Alternatively, foam insulating products having increased cell compressive strength may be made by decreasing the cell orientation and increasing the cell anisotropic ratio.
Abstract:
Kits carrying various components and devices are provided for use in obtaining access to a patient's vascular system. Various methods and procedures may be used to treat both emergency and more routine conditions using the contents of such kits. For example, such kits may contain various types of intraosseous (IO) devices including, but not limited to, drivers, penetrator assemblies, IO needles and other related components. Intravenous (IV) devices such as syringes, needles, IV bags, tubing and other related components for use in obtaining access to portions of a patient's vascular system may be included. Various types of connectors for communicating fluids with and/or monitoring a patient's vascular system may be provided. Such kits may contain medications, drugs and fluids used to treat a wide variety of both acute and chronic diseases and conditions.
Abstract:
Given a situation where a projected laser line appears to have terminated or faded as it intersects with a work-surface (e.g., a wall), a fan-out redirecting means is used to capture and redirect energy radiating above and parallel to, or radiating away from the given work-surface area, where the captured energy is from a line projector mounted to the surface. The radiation capturing and redirecting means aims the captured energy at a greater angle towards the work-surface so that the redirected light is thereafter reflected back to a user to give the perception that a line of enhanced intensity or reborn existence is being created on the work-surface or on a reflective overlayer placed against the work-surface. The radiation capturing and redirecting means may include one or both of optically refractive means and optically reflective means (e.g., lens and mirrors) for performing the capturing and/or redirecting functions.
