摘要: An electric discharge machining device, in which a pulse voltage is repeatedly applied between electrodes, which are an electrode and a workpiece to be machined, to cause electric discharge between the electrodes and thereby machine the workpiece. The electric discharge machining device includes a switching device (4) connected between a power source and the machining section, for controlling energy supplied by the power source; interelectrode impedance detecting apparatus (10) for detecting an interelectrode impedance affected by the variation in place of electric discharge which takes place between the electrodes; discharge detecting apparatus for detecting when electric discharge takes place between the electrodes; and a control device (18). The control device utilizes the output of the interelectrode impedance detecting apparatus to calculate a power source internal impedance to obtain a desired no-load voltage, and a power source internal impedance to obtain a desired current at the detection of electric discharge to thereby control the switching device. As a result, the discharge machining operation is stably carried out, the machined surface is uniform in surface roughness, and for a desired surface roughness the highest machining speed can be employed.

摘要: A camera has a viewfinder that forms a subject image to be observed, a multipoint auto-focus adjuster that focuses the subject image on the basis of multiple focus points defined on the subject image, a superimposer that superimposes an indicator mark on a position of a given focus point, and a focus point luminance detector that detects a luminance of the position. Then, the superimposer superimposes the indicator mark such that a brightness of the indicator mark increases as the luminance of the position increases.

摘要: A focus detection system includes a line sensor array having areas including pixels, wherein the line sensor array photoelectrically converts object light received by each pixel into electric charges, and outputs accumulated electric charges as an image signal; monitor sensor arrays, adjacent to the areas of the line sensor array, for monitoring amounts of light received thereby to output monitor signals, respectively; a controller which terminates an integral operation of the line sensor array immediately after the monitor signals reach an integration termination value; and a saturation detecting device for detecting whether the image signal reaches a predetermined level of saturation. If the saturation detecting device detects that the image signal reaches the predetermined level of saturation, the controller changes the integration termination value so that the monitor signals reach the integration termination value quicker, and makes the line sensor array perform the integral operation again.

摘要: When a disc loaded on a player is a hybrid next generation DVD, determination is made on whether the connected TV device is adaptable for the HD mode. Such determination is performed by whether or not the copyright protecting function of the connected TV device satisfies a condition set in advance. When adaptable for the HD mode, reproduction prioritizing the HDDVD layer is performed. When not adaptable for the HD mode, reproduction prioritizing the DVD layer is performed. Thus, the video content of HD mode recorded on the HDDVD layer is protected against leakage to the outside via the connected TV device by reproducing the DVD layer in preference in the case the copyright protecting function of the TV device is not sufficient.

摘要: When it is determined that the disc loaded on a player is a hybrid next generation DVD, the DVD layer is reproduced with a red laser light. In parallel with this reproduction process, a process for notifying the presence of the HDDVD layer is performed. That is, determination is made on whether the notification timing defined in advance has been reached. If the notification timing has been reached, a control instruction is output from a controller to an AV processing circuit, and the image information including the image notifying the presence of the HDDVD layer is output from the AV processing circuit. Thus, the user may learn that the HDDVD layer can be reproduced.

摘要: The present invention discloses an ink-jet recording sheet which, on at least one surface of a support, has a porous ink absorbing layer containing fine particle silica having the average particle size of 0.5 μm or smaller produced by wet process, electrolytes such as alkaline metal salts and alkaline earth metal salts, and polyvinyl alcohol; and then has a gloss layer. The ink-jet recording sheet has excellent features, that is, it has gloss like that of photographic printing paper, the excellent ink absorption speed and ink absorption capacity, and does not produce defects of the coating due to the cracks generated during drying in production processes of the ink absorbing layer. Therefore, the ink-jet recording sheet is suitable as a recording sheet for an ink-jet printer.

摘要: A substrate in which a minute ruggedness structure including columnar projections is formed in a track shape is prepared. The pitch of the columnar projections of the ruggedness structure is set such that a plurality of the columnar projections is within a beam spot. A flat portion is disposed between adjacent tracks. A reflecting layer is formed on the substrate. The flat portion becomes a mirror surface because of the formation of the reflecting layer. The reflectance of the ruggedness structure becomes significantly lower than the reflectance of the flat portion. When the ruggedness structure is irradiated with high-power laser light, a portion of the ruggedness structure is raised to a reflecting layer side and flattened. At this time, reflectance of the raised portion becomes higher than reflectance of a non-raised portion. When a track including the ruggedness structure is irradiated with high-power pulse laser light, signal recording based on a change in reflectance is possible.
