    Abstract: A method and a structure for an Autonomous Train Control System (ATCS) are disclosed, and are based on a plurality of autonomous train control elements that operate independent of each other. An autonomous train control element operates within an allocated track space, and based on predefined rules. Further, autonomous train control elements are paired together to exchange operational data. Pursuant to the predefined rules, an autonomous train control element acquires needed track space from a paired element, and relinquishes track space that is not required for its autonomous operation to a paired element. Further, an autonomous train control element is assigned a priority level with respect to the acquisition/relinquishment of track space.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for a train control installation are disclosed, and are based on the absolute permissive block concept. The train control installation employs a plurality of generic absolute block signal units (ABSU), wherein each signal unit includes means for detecting the crossing of a train passed a discrete point, means for exchanging data with adjacent ABSUs, means for generating and communicating a movement authority limit to a train, means for generating and displaying a signal indication, and means for enforcing a stop aspect. The train control installation can be used in conjunction with a communication based train control (CBTC) system to provide a degraded mode of operation without impacting the availability and the reliability of the CBTC system. Further, the train control installation has a self-healing feature to maintain train service during an ABSU failure.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for a train control system are disclosed, and are based on virtualization of train control logic and the use of cloud computing resources. A train control system is configured into two main parts. The first part includes physical elements of the train control system, and the second part includes a virtual train control system that provides the computing resources for the required train control application platforms. The disclosed architecture can be used with various train control technologies, including communications based train control, cab-signaling and fixed block, wayside signal technology. Further, the disclosure describes methodologies to convert cab-signaling and manual operations into distance to go operation.

    Abstract: An electronic puzzle, method and apparatus, is disclosed which includes a playfield that is subdivided into a plurality playing positions. Each playing position includes a switch, and an indicator that includes at least a first indicating element and a second indicating element, and each of said indicating elements has a plurality of indicating states to provide a plurality of visual indications. Further each playing position has a geometric pattern that is activated by the associated switch. The object of the game is for the player to manipulate the switches in order to transform an initial pattern of visual indications to a desired pattern of visual indications. Upon the activation of a switch, the first indicating element of at least one playing position in the associated geometric pattern changes its indicating state, and the second indicating element of at least one different playing position in said associated geometric pattern changes its indicating state. The device employs a microprocessor to control the progress of the game, monitor the activation of the switches, updates the indicating states of affected indicating elements in the associated geometric pattern, and generates new visual indications based on the updated indicating states. The microprocessor also controls the generation of audio/visual effects to enhance the enjoyment of play. Further, the device employs means to generate a plurality of puzzles, and games, and provisions to vary the level of difficulty of play.

    Abstract: A gaming device method and apparatus is disclosed, and is based on simulated movement of a train, or a vehicle, on a route from an origination point to a destination point. In a preferred embodiment, a random number generator is used to assign speed limits that bound the safe movement of a train in a scenario, and/or to select the actual speed of the train in the scenario. A winning scenario is defined by the train reaching its destination, and occurs when the train maintains its actual speed within the safe speed limits. This gaming concept could be implemented as a primary gaming device, or as a bonus game in a traditional gaming machine. In an alternate embodiment, a spinning wheel, controlled by a random number generator, is used to select a destination for a train approaching a track juncture. At least one destination is pre-defined as a winning destination.

    Abstract: An interactive play set, method and apparatus, is disclosed which is based on a host toy and a plurality of action figures. Each of the action figures has a unique set of attributes related to how the action figure interacts with the host toy device. The play set includes communication means to transmit the identity of the action figure to the host toy, and/or to transmit commands from the host toy to the action figure. The preferred embodiment discloses a remote control toy car, and a plurality of action figures that represent drivers. Associated with each action figure is one or a plurality of motion profiles that are stored in the memory of the car device.     Abstract: An electronic game, method and apparatus, is disclosed which includes a playfield that is subdivided into a plurality of sectors. Each sector includes one or a plurality of playing positions, and each playing position has an indicator. The device incorporates a plurality of rotation patterns, each of which maps a plurality of indicators on the playfield. The device further incorporates a plurality of indicating states that correspond to a plurality of visual indications. In addition, the device includes a plurality of input control mechanisms to enable a player to activate the rotation patterns. The object of the game is for the player to manipulate the switches in order to transform an initial pattern of visual indications to a desired pattern of visual indications. The device functions by rotating the indicating states between the various sectors on the playfield using predefined rotation patterns. As an indicating state is shifted, or rotated, from one sector to another, it provides a different visual indication.
