    摘要: Wireless switch licenses are assigned on a cluster basis rather than being limited to individual switches. A switch cluster is made up of two or more wireless switches that each having an assigned number of licenses. Each of the wireless switches is configured to establish the switch cluster with the other wireless switches, and to verify the identity of each other wireless switch in the switch cluster during operation. License restrictions are enforced based upon a total number of licenses for the switch cluster so that the sum of the numbers of licenses assigned to the wireless switches in the cluster are available for use even if one or more of the other wireless switches in the cluster become unavailable.

    摘要: An RFID system includes a central RF network controller and a failover antenna within a read point zone that spans multiple antennas and RFID readers. The system includes a first RFID antenna configured to read RF tag data within a first read point, a second RFID antenna configured to read the RF tag data within a second read point, and a failover RFID antenna. A controller communicatively coupled to the failover RFID antenna, the first RFID antenna, and the second RFID antenna is configured to group the first, second, and failover RFID antennas in a read point zone and to receive RF tag data from the first, second, and failover RFID antennas and assign the tag data to the read point zone. The controller is further configured to receive a failure notification associated with failure of one of the first and second RFID antennas and activate the failover RFID antenna upon receipt of the failure notification.

    摘要: An RFID system provides opportunistic locationing of RFID tags and associated assets in environments where multiple tags are read from multiple readers. A radio frequency identification (RFID) system includes one or more location triggers and a first RFID reader coupled to the network having a first antenna associated therewith. The first reader is configured to read a first set of tag IDs from a first set of RFID tags within a first range of the first antenna. A second RFID reader is coupled to the network and has a second antenna associated therewith. The second RFID reader is configured to read a second set of tag IDs from a second set of RFID tags within a second range of the second antenna. An RF switch is coupled to the network and is configured to receive the first set of tag IDs and the second set of tag IDs from the first RFID reader and the second RFID reader. The RF switch is configured to reconcile the location of an asset having a particular tag ID when the particular tag ID is an element of both the first set of tag IDs and the second set of tag IDs.

    摘要: Wireless switch are monitored or configured on a cluster basis rather than being limited to configuration on an individual switches. A switch cluster is made up of two or more wireless switches that share a cluster number or other identifier. A command is received from a user interface module at a first node in the cluster, and an instruction related to the command is transmitted from the first node to the other nodes in the cluster. After receiving responses from at least some of the other nodes in the cluster as to the effect of the instruction, the first node provides an updated response to the administrator. The administrator is therefore able to configure or monitor each of the nodes in the cluster from a single administrative node.

    摘要: System flexibility and ease-of-design is greatly enhanced in a network wireless/RFID switching device by using a multicore abstraction layer (MCAL) to interface between a multicore hardware platform, a device operating system and the packet transfer functions of the system. Such an architecture may be particularly useful in constructing switches capable of switching wireless networking (e.g. IEEE 802.11, 802.16), RFID or other network protocols, particularly using multi-core processors. A classification handler initially classifies the data packet. A plurality of protocol handlers each associated with a data protocol processes the data packet if the classification of the data packet matches the data protocol associated with the protocol handler, and one of several application handlers each associated with a user applications processes the data packet if the classification of the data packet matches the user application associated with the application handler. The MCAL is configured to send the data packet to the classification handler after the packet is initially received, and to subsequently direct the packet toward one of the protocol or application handlers in response to the classification of the data packet. MCAL further contains a set of the containers for handlers. Real application, protocol and classification handlers register with MCAL and are modules developed outside of the MCAL.

    摘要: In response to a component management function call by a remote client application, the component management application programming interface (API) generates a message that identifies the called function and the version of the component management API. The component management API calls a local message transfer RPC command to send the message to a RPC command module. The RPC command module processes the local message transfer RPC command, and packages the message for transfer as a RPC over the heterogenous network. The RPC command module sends the packaged RPC to a network stack which in turn transmits the packaged RPC over the heterogenous network to a network stack in the server computer. The server network stack provides the packaged RPC to a server RPC command module that unpacks the RPC in a conventional manner to obtain the original message. The message is passed to a server component management API. The server component management API parses the message to determine the computer architecture of the client computer. With this information, server component management API reads the version specified in the message. If the specified version is incompatible with the version of the server component management API, a reply indicating the version incompatibility is transmitted to remote client application and otherwise the message is processed further by the server component management API.
