Abstract: Transmit power (e.g., maximum transmit power) may be defined based on the maximum received signal strength allowed by a receiver and a total received signal strength from transmitting nodes at the receiver. Transmit power may be defined for an access node (e.g., a femto node) such that a corresponding outage created in a cell (e.g., a macro cell) is limited while still providing an acceptable level of coverage for access terminals associated with the access node. An access node may autonomously adjust its transmit power based on channel measurement and a defined coverage hole to mitigate interference and perform a self-calibration process.

Abstract: Transmit power for an access point is controlled based on information received by the access point. For example, an access point may employ one or more algorithms that use messages received from nearby access terminals to maintain an acceptable tradeoff between providing an adequate coverage area for access point transmissions and mitigating interference that these transmissions cause at nearby access terminals. Here, the access point may employ a network listen-based algorithm upon initialization of the access terminal to provide preliminary transmit power control until sufficient information is collected for another transmit power control algorithm (e.g., an access terminal assisted algorithm). Also, the access terminal may employ an active access terminal protection scheme to mitigate interference the access point may otherwise cause to a nearby access terminal that is in active communication with another access point.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) are described. A UE may establish a wireless connection with a primary cell and may identify a set of antenna modules of the UE and multiple sets of receive beams. Each set of receive beams may include at least one beam from each antenna module. The UE may perform a measurement procedure on signals received from one or more candidate secondary cells using at least a first set of receive beams. The UE may then transmit, to the primary cell, a measurement report based on performing the measurement procedure upon determining that at least one of the multiple sets of receive beams satisfies a threshold value and before performing the measurement procedure on signals received from the one or more candidate secondary cells using at least one remaining set of receive beams.

Abstract: Described features are directed to staggered frequency channel changing for cells of spectrum sharing networks. In some examples users communicating on one or more frequency channels of a spectrum sharing network may receive an indication that those channels are to be vacated, for example that the frequency channels are not to be transmitted on, or otherwise used for communications. Cells of the spectrum sharing network may receive the indication and perform staggered (e.g., sequential or randomly-timed) channel changes. The staggered channel changes may facilitate handover of user devices of the spectrum sharing network by, for example, reducing a number of cells that are simultaneously undergoing a channel change procedure. Thus, staggered frequency channel changing may reduce user service interruptions and radio link failures in a spectrum sharing network.
