Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure present a technique for enabling a receiver to detect mode of transmission of a signal based on a common field transmitted to all the receivers. The proposed technique includes frame structure in which information about the transmission mode is transmitted in a first portion of a SIG field to all the receivers.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for the coexistence of 1 MHz and 2 MHz operation modes within a wireless communication system in accordance with IEEE 802.11ah, for example. One example method generally includes scanning a plurality of channel pairs, wherein each of the channel pairs comprises a first channel having a first channel designation and a second channel having a second channel designation; determining, based on the scan, a set of open channels from the plurality of channel pairs in which no other apparatus is operating; selecting a primary channel based on the determination; and transmitting using the selected primary channel. The selection of the primary channel involves channel selection rules disclosed herein.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for tuning media access parameters are disclosed. In one aspect an access point includes a receiver configured to receive at least one message from a second access point. The access point further includes a processor configured to coordinate with the second access point to select a value of a medium access parameter comprising one of a carrier sense threshold and an energy detection threshold for a wireless station. The processor may generate a message identifying the value of the medium access parameter and may further comprise a transmitter connected to the processor and configured to transmit the message to the station.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a wireless communication device. A wireless communication device may receive a data frame and use it to estimate a residual channel length (RCL). The device may then modify a finite impulse response (FIR) filter based on the estimated RCL. For example, the device may add additional taps to the FIR filter. The device may continue to adjust the FIR filter until the RCL is at or near zero. In some cases, the wireless communication device may send an indication to the transmitting device to adjust an FIR filter based on the estimated RCL. In some cases, the length of a guard interval may also be adjusted based on the estimated RCL.
Abstract:
A first wireless station provides a configuration indication value that specifies a maximum number of medium access control layer service data units (MSDUs) that may be included in each medium access control layer protocol data unit (MPDU), or in each aggregated MPDU (A-MPDU), received by the first wireless station. A second wireless station receives the configuration indication value from the first wireless station, and in response, transmits only MSDUs (or A-MSDUs) having no more than the specified maximum number of MSDUs to the first wireless station. The configuration indication value can be included in various elements transmitted between the first and second wireless stations, including for example, a high throughput (HT) capabilities element, a very high throughput (VHT) capabilities information field, a VHT operation element or an add block acknowledge (ADDBA) response frame.
Abstract:
A method of providing rate adaptation in a multi-user wireless communication system including single-user beamforming (SU-BF) and multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) is described. In this method, a master rate, which is a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for the SU-BF, is determined. An MCS for each transmit mode is derived from the master rate using a rate mapping. Using the results from the mapping, the master rate, instead of the MCS for each transmit mode, is tracked. In one embodiment, a mapping calibration is periodically performed.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for communicating in a wireless network are provided. In some aspects, an access point may comprise a receiver configured to receive an access request message from a wireless station, the message comprising an indication of a plurality of network connection available to the wireless station including a link to a second access point. The receiver may be further configured to receive connectivity information associated with the link, based on the indication, from the second access point. The access point may further comprise a processor configured to determine whether to grant access to the wireless station based, at least in part, on the indication and the connectivity information, and a transmitter configured to transmit a response to the wireless station based on the determining.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for early receive chain shutoff using a typified CRC and/or content change indicator signals. In one aspect, a method for low power frame filtering is provided. The method comprises generating a typified checksum based on a transaction identifier and at least a portion of a packet. The method further comprises transmitting, to at least one receiver, the packet comprising the typified checksum.

Abstract:
A modified preamble is used by extended devices that operate at higher rates, MIMO or other extensions relative to strict 802.11a-compliant devices. The extended devices might use multiple antenna techniques (MIMO), where multiple data streams are multiplexed spatially and/or multi-channel techniques, where an extended transmitter transmits using more than one 802.11a channel at a time. Such extensions to IEEE 802.11a can exist in extended devices. The modified preamble is usable for signaling, to legacy devices as well as extended devices, to indicate capabilities and to cause legacy devices or extended devices to defer to other devices such that the common communication channel is not subject to unnecessary interference. The modified preamble is also usable for obtaining MIMO channel estimates and/or multi-channel estimates. The modified preamble preferably includes properties that facilitate detection of conventional and/or extended modes (“mode detection”) and provides some level of coexistence with legacy IEEE 802.11a devices.
